The WWE has build an amazingly solid card for SummerSlam (and TakeOver for that matter), and it really is hard to narrow it down to one match. But if I have to pick just one, I’d say, the match that just might be the biggest, is AJ Styles versus John Cena. You have two incredible performers, who understand the unique stage and setting they are on. SummerSlam or otherwise, these men are going to put on a phenomenal show (pun-intended). The feud in itself, and the promos between Cena and Styles have been awesome; therefore, it makes sense that they will have one of the best (if not the best) match of the weekend. Honourable mentions go to Charlotte and Sasha Banks, as they are guarantee to tear down the house down (if past matches are any indication); as well, as Ambrose versus Ziggler.
The main one I think will have people talking by the time Sunday night is in the book? I am going with Ambrose and Ziggler. I think these two men are highly motivated to prove people wrong. Ambrose was basically treated as the third option out of Shield, and Ziggler had climbed the mountain before, only to be relegated to seemingly Parts Unknown. And now? Now, both of these guys are on top of their games, and fighting on one of the biggest events of the year, for one of the biggest prizes in all of wrestling. I think each has a lot to prove and comes in highly motivated to burn down the house.
But, I do think they will be challenged, by a match not from SummerSlam, but from TakeOver. That match? That would be Bayley and Asuka. I really think that, for a second straight TakeOver in Brooklyn, the women could deliver the kind of match we end up talking about for a while. And I do think it could be so good that it is one of, if not the best,of the entire weekend.
I’m going with Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton. They met a long time ago on WWE’s main roster. At the time, Lesnar was on the quick rise to the main event while Orton was taking a slower path. Now, the two are veterans and this could likely be their final match together. Lesnar is a such huge draw and I can’t wait to count along with the Brooklyn crowd as he goes to suplex city. Somewhere between those suplexes, Orton will deliver some RKOs because it’s going to take several of them and keep “The Beast” down. Orton might have to even hear voices in his head again and try for the illegal punt if he stands any chance of winning.
Post-match, I wouldn’t be surprised if WWE setups Lesnar’s next feud. There’s lots of talk about Bill Goldberg appearing, which isn’t a match I want to see; but, those two being nose-to-nose inside the ring would create buzz.
