Ask WNZ: Looking Forward TakeOver Brooklyn

Another simple question: what are our writers looking forward to from NXT TakeOver?

Dorathy Gass:

Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura. I’m looking forward to seeing the match itself, not to mention the outcome. There just seems so much speculation as to whether or not Joe will drop the title at TakeOver, and then head over to the main roster. In general, I think Joe has had a solid run as champ, and I think Nakamura would make an interesting NXT Champion. I love Shinuke’s style, persona, and in-ring technique (I’m even mesmerized by how he enters the ring). We shall see. Regardless of the outcome, the match will be incredible.

John Deegan:

Honestly, for me, it’s nearly impossible to single this out. Yes, the NXT title match should be awesome. But then, what about the Women’s title match? That one should be awesome too. And then? What about the tag team titles? Another really strong match being put out there-that’s three title matches, any of which might just steal the show. So surely, my choice comes from those, right? Not at all. Well, not just those.

There’s also two major debuts for NXT, as Bobby Roode will be in a match, facing off against another relative new-comer in Andrade Cien Almas. And the women’s division gets some much needed reinforcements, with the debut of Ember Moon.

And that’s overlooking a match that I think could be overlooked, between No Way Jose and Austin Aries.

In other words, TakeOver is stacked, top to bottom, and I think I am more excited for this card than SummerSlam-and that card is honestly pretty strong too.

Joseph Lisnow:

I’m most excited to see NXT Women’s Champion Asuka vs. Bayley for several reasons. Asuka has been unstoppable since joining NXT, with nobody able to pin the submission expert. Bayley will look to become the only two-time Women’s Champion as she returns to Brooklyn and in the same arena she won the title against Sasha Banks almost 12 months ago to the day—a bout some called match of the year. The finish might depend if Bayley is headed to the main roster after the show or will be sticking around NXT for a few more months.

The other interesting match is Bobby Roode making his official in-ring debut for NXT. There was always lots of hype about Bobby Roode in TNA, even when he first debuted as a member of Team Canda, and the buzz flowed over into NXT. Roode will win and likely be elevated into the main event scene if he can sell his character to NXT fans.
