It was pretty shocking, and not what I expected at all; which I see as an overall good thing. Was John Cena aware of these plans when he posted a picture on Instagram of a young AJ Styles in January of this year? The WWE Universe thought he was hinting about Styles’ WWE debut (which was really kind of a given at the time), yet maybe, just maybe he was foreshadowing this feud. I think in the end, the heel turn will make AJ Styles, Gallows, and Anderson look overall stronger. I know, I know, people are concerned these three may get buried in the process of this program; but I, do not think that will happen at all. I’m excited to see where all this will lead, and potentially that much more excited that The New Day may get involved in all this, since The Club attacked them earlier on in the evening on the Memorial Day edition of RAW.
It was a nice swerve, considering how it all developed. I still don’t know if I can wrap my head around AJ as a heel, because I’ve personally never watched him be one before. But it makes sense, and there’s no question that’s the disposition of Anderson and Gallows. And it will be exciting to have what should be a fresh set of heels, working a fresh program with Cena. Fans had been complaining about the same old retread programs, over and over, so it’s going to be hard to complain about this one, unless this one flat out gets booked terribly-which would be a whole different issue.
That being said, I am looking forward to this, and I do think this program could be the program that finally brings more Club members to the main roster, which should be a good thing too.
