Dean Ambrose: The Guy With The Most Cake

WWE
For weeks now, Michael Cole has been dubbing the 2016 Money in the Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV) as the “greatest MITB of all time”, and while I rolled my eyes at this statement when he said it: the man certainly did speak the truth. Aside from some of spectacular matches, including the fatal four-way tag match, John Cena versus AJ Styles, and the turn that shocked the WWE Universe (Natalya); an incredible story unfolded that really centered around Dean Ambrose.

It was simply, his night.

While perusing social media and comments on this site, bright and early this morning, there are those who loved the outcome (me included), and there are those who thought it was lame. Still, the conclusion to the PPV was unexpected, historic, and created yet another glorious chapter for three men, that have done quite a lot in this business, in a short period of time.

It also left all three men looking strong; which is a feat, in itself. Ambrose, finally catching up to his former Shield mates, gets to not only hold the title of Mr. MITB, but also now chalks up ‘WWE World Heavyweight Champion’ to his pro wrestling resume. Then there is Rollins. After being out for a little over six months, he comes back to the PPV spectrum, nails his match, beats Roman Reigns (cleanly), and becomes two-time WWE Champ. The reign was short, but still stands. Then there is Reigns. Love him or hate him, he dominated over Rollins last night, and still came out of MITB looking strong, with a pin that could have changed the game, had the referee not been knocked out. Win-win situation all around for these superstars, and their loyal fans backing them up.

The best? We have a face champion. I love all three men; I would have been happy with anyone of them walking out of the MITB PPV as WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but the fact remains the WWE Universe hasn’t seen a solid face as WWE Champ for a while, so it’s nice to see a superstar that is well over with the crowd, hold the title.

But where does this leave the Money in the Bank briefcase now? In years past when someone has cashed-in, within a short period of time, another winner has been determined, a little later on in the year. There is so much going on right now, and with the brand split set to hit the WWE when SmackDown goes live on July 19th, it makes sense that there just may be another MITB winner determined somewhere down the line, potentially even as early as SummerSlam.

Speaking of SummerSlam, as for the fates of Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins, like many of you out there, I can’t help but speculate that there just may be a triple threat dream match in store for these three competitors, come WWE’s second largest PPV. The story seems to be unfolding that way, and the foreshadowing that occurred during the June 13th episode of Monday Night RAW, when all three gathered for the Ambrose Asylum was simply a hint of what might be to come.

As for Dean Ambrose, the third and final Shield member to get a taste of WWE World Heavyweight gold, it’s been long over due. The night he had at MITB truly proves what many fans have been thinking for a while; and that he deserves to be at the top of the WWE ladder, and he does have what it takes to be ‘the man’. Now, how long will he reign? That really depends on where storylines are shifting, how well he carries the gold, and a multitude of other factors. As for now, he deserves to bask in the glory of job well done.

Cheers to Dean Ambrose, WWE’s new World Heavyweight Champion!

Fully deserved. We’re gonna see the very best of ambrose now. I feel he has more to give. I can’t wait for the triple threat when it happens.

Reigns had hernia surgery in 2014, hes still in his 3-year injury cooldown phase, but come 2017…Lets just say, Mikey, I love the voodoo that you do.

          • Bite Me You Loser

            Reigns won’t sell Mikey’s curse.

I’m happy for ambrose! I could have settled for Rollins winning and closing the show but this outcome was awesome. I’m just glad the title is off of reigns, hes decent but not champion worthy to me. I think a shield triple threat is something we’ve all been waiting for since their split and I applaud WWE that they have made all 3 wrestlers top tier main event talent. The unfolding of this story will be interesting for sure!

I dont know whay people disliked that ending – its been 2 years in the making (tons of suspense and doubt if Dean would ever hold the belt – at least I felt he was being treated as an afterthought), allowed all 3 members of the Shield to hold the belt on the same night, solidified Seth as a legitimate threat after pinning Roman clean, satisfied a longstanding vengeance that Dean had after Seth’s betrayal of the group. It was the perfect ending for MITB.

I will even admit, I was impressed by how WWE acknowledged the polarisation of the crowd and had Reigns play off a more dominating heel style. Reigns can pull off some mean looking powerbombs too. Everybody came out of this stronger – Reigns “looked strong” in performance, Seth beat Reigns clean, and finally, Ambrose won MITB and walked out as champion. Kevin Owens may have been the only person harmed by the outcomes, but lets face it, he will be champ within the coming years. He has way too much charisma, in ring prowess and power to be ignored. And if anybody knows how to revive his momentum – its Kevin. The man sells his character better than Ziggler sells his opponents finishers.

Big E’s the guy that’s got the most cake I think. Naomi if we’re talking overall. ?
