Dear Creative, Don’t Forget Ladies During The Brand Extension

WWE Championship
Dear Creative,

With all the hype around RAW’s announce team dropping the words “World Heavyweight” when referring to the WWE Championship this past Monday, I can’t help but wonder about the ladies when it comes to the brand extension, WWE’s upcoming first-ever live edition of SmackDown, and the draft looming.

I actually think it is a great idea to not add another high-level gold title on the male roster. You may need to add secondary titles to the men’s division … but I digress, the focus of my letter today is on the women.

Now, I realize there is a significant difference in numbers when it comes to the women’s division, and the two brands splitting. Even with bringing in new talents, from NXT, the talent pool does decrease in size, once it is split. However, I’m hoping with the rumors flying about other (older) WWE talent coming from other promotions, you also have in the works, female wrestlers from other organizations in mind, coming into the women’s division. It just seems that the women are already getting lost in the fold of excitement. Sure, Sasha Banks’ return was incredible, but the division should not place emphasis on one or two female superstars alone; that is what has hurt it in the past.

Each show, should have a significant amount of females, representing, so that when the WWE Women’s Champion arrives on either show, it means something; just like for their male counterparts. I’m sure Creative, you are already honing Bailey to maker her main roster move, potentially Asuka, and maybe even an Alexa Bliss, Carmella, or potentially Nia Jax. Much like the men, the females on both shows need to be reflected in numbers, and in programs that will help them shine.

With all the speculation swooping on the internet, it seems that once again, the focus of the brand extension seems to be on the males. Which is quite disheartening, considering the lengthens the women have come. Could the brand extension hurt the females of the WWE, and decrease focus on them? Potentially, which would be a terrible revelation, especially post Wrestlemania 32, where the female Triple Threat match clearly stole the show.

So, what am I suggesting Creative? If you haven’t already done so, pooling talent from other organizations may not be a bad move, and could shake things up. Add as much hype as incoming male talent, returning or new, to the WWE, as the females. A secondary title of some sort for the women wouldn’t hurt either. Moreover, creating multiple programs, outside the title picture race, is still key here; now more than ever. It doesn’t always have to be about the Women’s title, and because the champ will be on both shows, there is such a danger of always making it about the championship.

At the end of the day, WWE Creative, don’t forget about the ladies of the WWE. They have worked so hard to carve a name for themselves, and have become such an integral part of your organization, storylines, and pay-per-views.

With the report of the women being on both shows, I’m concerned that they’ll be lost in the mix like they are right now. To their credit though, we got to see like 6 or 7 women on Raw this past Monday.

I stand corrected. 9 women. 10 if you include Steph. Well 13 if you include JoJo, Renee, and Lillian.

I was thinking about that yesterday. Usually when Raw or Smackdown falls on a holiday, they do a costume gimmick or bikini contest and here with Raw on July 4th, we might not get one. ?
