So much for that.
Now, let’s be honest here. I don’t know if anyone was particularly fond of the feud from the beginning. Ziggler is amazing, but Rusev and he just didn’t click. Adding the love interests to the program did nothing but make it more bloated, and I don’t think most in the WWE Universe were able to tolerate this angle much at all. So, assuming it really is dead and buried, I think most would be eternally grateful. Heck, had Rusev wanted to, if it meant the end of the angle, I bet he could have started a Kickstarter program to fund the engagement ring and fans would have signed up in droves.
But what if the angle does not die? Perhaps it doesn’t, and perhaps that could actually make this program worthwhile?
No, I am not crazy. OK, maybe I am, but here me out.
What if WWE actually runs with this (clearly they are, if they announced the engagement on RAW). But runs with it by having them reunite on-screen, allowing Rusev and Lana to have some time to explain things, saying that it was all part of the plan, that they were in love even when they appeared split, and it was all part of their twisted thinking to screw with Ziggler’s head. And then, of course, there is poor Summer Rae…
Do they dare go there? Probably not, and maybe that’s for the best. But if you wanted to give the WWE Universe a diabolical, twisted and manipulative valet, the likes of which we really haven’t seen since probably Sensational Sheri? Well, this would be one heck of a way to build one up.
