Best Match of the night:
Bayley versus Carmella. It was the main event, and it was deserving of the spot. Both women put on a show, and I can say I was impressed. Good pace, good action, good story. If I had to complain about anything, it would be the duration-would have been nice to see it go longer, but obviously they needed to leave time for the after-match events.
Worst match of the night:
Bliss versus Cameron. Nothing against Bliss, but this one gets here because of Cameron. And, something had to be the worst match of the evening. Perhaps I change it to match I liked least. Either way, same “winner”.
Crowd Chants of the Night?:
Lets go Bliss
Woo woo woo
Let’s go Bayley
How you doin’
You can’t wrestle
Asuka’s gonna kill you
Star of the Night
Bayley. I’ve seen highlights, and I’ve seen her on some of the Network programming behind the scenes. But tonight was my first time sitting down and watching a match from start to finish, and I am impressed. I am quite curious to see how such a personality would play on the main roster, but I think it would be fun to watch. And she really is a hugger!
Spot of the Night:
I dig End of Days. First time seeing it for me, so it’s a pretty nifty maneuver.
Jobber of the Night:
I have to go with Hollis and Skyler. It’s been a long time since I got to see a jobber tag team, like, a real jobber tag team. Not that these guys were. But close enough for me tonight.
From the singles side? I’ll go with Jesse Sorenson
Upset of the Night:
Not a single one tonight. In all honesty, this one, at least for NXT, may just go away. For an hour show, and with what they are doing, an upset would seem far less likely to happen on a weekly basis here.
Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:
Nia Jax and Eva Marie coming down, following the NXT Womens Championship match, and delivering a beating to Carmella. And then Asuka making the save. Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s because NXT is a new thing for me, but this women’s division may be more captivating than the Divas on the main roster (from top to bottom). Just imagining the ladies still here, plus the recent call-ups, it’s no wonder the main roster needed the Divas Revolution.
Botch of the night:
When Rawley was going for the double clothesline, it was very obvious that both Hollis and Skyler jumped to help get knocked over the top rope.
Speaking of Rawley, not a terrible botch, but a rather weak looking hip toss. Maybe a botch, maybe just bad.
Commentary of the night:
What is Mojo Rawley shielding his eyes from? Why wear eye black indoors?
Anyone mentioning someone having a Johnny Depp starter kit? That’s a keeper.
LOL Moment of the night:
A wrestler getting compared to tiramisu, as Gable was by Enzo Amore.
WWE was hyping it, so I will mention it-it’s the first NXT show from CFE Arena, so that’s got to be noteworthy, right?
For me, while I know NXT has done this before, I love seeing a strong Women’s Division match serve as the main event, and rock it. Honestly, it’s only a matter of time before we get this happening on RAW, and then from there, pick a PPV. It may take a while to do that on the WrestleMania stage, but look at the women that work for WWE, between NXT and the main roster. If ever they were going to push for a main event spot on ANY PPV, this is the roster to do it with.
Did not think this week’s show was as strong as last week’s show, from start to finish, but it was still fun to watch. Crowd was into it, the matches were entertaining, so if that’s my only gripe, things are going well.
Liked what I saw out of Elias Samson. Corbin could be a force, too. He’s got Wyatt all over him, especially serving in the heel role.
Bayley. Carmella. Main Event. Aftermath. More, please. I will say it-next week’s main event, Samoa Joe versus Sami Zayn to determine the number one contender? They have a tough match to follow.
After the final bell:
So, I assume WWE feels happy to take more risks on NXT, given it’s a one hour, pre-recorded show-they can edit out things if they need to, so only the best footage makes it. Makes sense. But taking a “risk” like the Women’s main event, it’s not really a risk at all-unless they figure they can do it because it’s “only” NXT.
Well, here’s the thing. If they have the talent, ANYONE on the roster, male or female, ought to be able to main event. And tonight’s proved it, not just from the match which was very good, but to the post-match as well. Nice run-ins, good story built up, and you’ve got so many different ways things could unfold. Obviously, Nia Jax and Eva Marie have a gripe with Carmella, and naturally Nia Jax wants to get her hands on Bayley. But, so does Asuka-she just happens to be a bit nicer about it.
This is perhaps one reason I don’t like Ric Flair involved with Charlotte. If she’s that good, why does she need anyone-Flair or not-to be by her side. But, I digress. Looking forward to next week’s main event, that much is for sure.
Corbin over Johnny Gargano
Hype Bros. over Corey Hollis and John Skyler
Alexa Bliss over Cameron
Elias Samson over Jesse Sorenson
Bayley over Carmella.
