One More Big Show?

Wyatt Family
Over the last week, you can’t help but notice that Big Show has been getting some decent exposure. On this week’s RAW, he went one on one with Erick Rowan, and won-though he paid for it after the match.

Last week, as those same Wyatts were enjoying a numbers advantage against Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, it was Big Show who strode down to the ring to more than even the odds.

Is this just a temporary feud, or could Big Show become relevant again?

On the one hand, it’s likely just temporary. Everyone and their mother is predicting a Roman Reigns-HHH title match in early April, just like they are predicting that Brock Lesnar will exact his revenge on the Wyatt Family. But, for now, Lesnar is focused not on the Wyatts who wronged him in the Rumble, but rather his upcoming Triple Threat Match at Fastlane. But again, most are expecting that he will lose that match and quickly move on to a Wyatts feud, culminating in AT&T Stadium.

So, if you believe those prognosticators, then the smart money agrees. Show might feud with the Wyatts too, but it won’t be their primary feud for long.

But, what if he does get one last shot at glory? Let’s be harsh, if only for a moment. Big Show is not a spring chicken, and he hasn’t been in the main event discussion for too long now. But, he IS a giant. He’s billed as the World’s Largest Athlete, after all. He’s a really big guy. In theory, if he wanted to, few men in WWE should be able to stand toe to toe with him and live to tell the tale (yes, I know it’s all scripted). So why couldn’t he get another shot, at any of the titles? OK, fine, you don’t think he’s worthy of sniffing the WWE Championship? Fine. And Kalisto and Alberto have the US Title picture under control-though a heel Show could clearly, should clearly, dominate that match and claim the belt. Intercontinental? That seems to be something for Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose to decide, and given the quality of some of their matches, I can’t object. Could Show go into the tag ranks? It’s not a bad thought, honestly. The Usos are not setting worlds on fire, and the Dudleys aren’t being given much traction of late. Pairing Show with someone, say Damien Sandow, or Neville? It might take a bit of work to get the chemistry, but they could be made into a compelling tag team, serviceable if nothing else.

And even those singles titles, all of which seem out of his reach for the moment-following WrestleMania, there’s no reason he couldn’t at least be thrust into a transitional feud, vying for a belt he might never actually win again.

But considering what he’s done? I wouldn’t be opposed to one last run, however brief it might be.

Sadly, I think we will get to see him relegated to a feud with Braun Strowman. Which could just be bad all around.

Show’s doing his job well, he is a safe pair of hands that can develop and guide green wrestler’s, hench his program with Roman Reigns last year and now with Rowan and Strowman

Put Show in a tag team with a young rookie where the rookie can “hide” behind the Big Show in confrontations. Have the rookie work the entire match, only to be exhausted and finally tag Show in for the Knock-out Punch. They win, repeat and repeat. Subsequently, have Show get tired of being the muscle, or have the rookie betray him.
