Random Royal Rumble Predictions

Xavier Woods
We do predictions here all the time, that is a given, you won’t escape them. That being said, it’s but once a year where we get an event such as the Royal Rumble. And let’s be honest, in the entire WWE year, no other match offers such prognosticating opportunities. None at all. In spite of WWE’s efforts to make things horribly predictable (folks had pegged Roman’s 2015 win months in advance), the Rumble match itself is largely anything but.

So, since it is inherently unpredictable, what am I going to do? Why, make some predictions, of course. Some are more direct than others,¬† but it’s all in good fun, and I will be curious to see just how close I came to any of them. Or, more likely, how badly I missed and how wrong I was.

Without delay, here are my predictions for the 2016 Rumble match itself:

First one in: Roman Reigns :)

OK, that was a gimme. But seriously…

First 10 entrants, in no specific order:

Roman Reigns

Braun Strowman

Luke Harper

Dean Ambrose

Neville

Ryback

Rusev

Sami Zayn

Big E

Kane

Fastest guy(s) out: This one screams of something the Social Outcasts would pull off. In a comedic moment, it could be Axel’s turn to enter, but all four guys come down, and as he’s climbing into the ring, his own team-no one else in the match yet-trips him up and he’s out. Second choice, just for kicks, would be Xavier Woods.

Final four in:

Roman Reigns

Brock Lesnar

Bray Wyatt

Alberto Del Rio

First 10 out:

Rusev

Neville

Zayn

Xavier Woods

Heath Slater

Kalisto

Jack Swagger

Luke Harper

Big Show

Ryback

The big surprises (or returns)

Samoa Joe

Sami Zayn

HHH

As much as I’ve been saying Undertaker, I just don’t think it’s in the cards.

Records will fall: In his quest to hold on to his title, Roman will eliminate 15 Superstars, and will survive in the Rumble match a record one hour, 9 minutes and 43 seconds. But…The ending will come in such a fashion that there will be a clear and deserving number one contender (the last man out). What I envision is this: Brock is beaten down in a corner and catching a breather. Roman is outnumbered, going against both Del Rio and Wyatt. However, Reigns manages to oust one or both heels. In one instance, as Reigns is eliminating Wyatt, Brock seizes the moment and stuns Del Rio, and as Reigns turns to square off with The Beast, a peeved Wyatt yanks Roman out of the ring and eliminates him, giving Brock the win. Alternatively, Reigns could account for both eliminations while Lesnar recovers, but the elimination would still be the same, Reigns being yanked out by a bitter Wyatt.

It would give WWE a Reigns/Wyatt tilt for Fast Lane, and they could argue that the winner of that becomes #1 contender. Or, they could just make Reigns that contender.

The winner: Brock Lesnar.

No mention of AJ Styles? I think he’s gonna make his debut at the Rumble.

  • KingBack

That ending would be horrible and the surprises would be letdown from the rumored Bullet/Balor Club debut

  • Robb Frymyer

Brock is not going to walk out with the belt. My money is HHH leaves as champ.

    • Joseph Lisnow

I got money on Triple H too. Who eliminates Brock Lesnar?

      • Robb Frymyer

I say Wyatt or Stroughman eliminate Brock.

        • Robb Frymyer

          Petty much called it.

      • Victor82

        The Wyatts.

  • MEH

Surprise entrant and New WWE World Heavyweight Champion……. CM Punk lol

    Predictions/Wishlist:

#2 Entrant: Finn Balor, lasting at least until we get to the double digit entrants

Owens will gain an upper hand in the match and at that point Sami Zayn will enter, eliminating both of them in his quest for vengeance

#30 Entrant: Either Taker or HHH. If it’s Taker, he wins. If it’s HHH, he eliminates both himself and Reigns

Fastest elimination: Axel – creative will inexplicably punish Axel for getting slightly over with the whole never been eliminated gimmick

Wyatt family use the numbers advantage to get the most eliminations as a collective until Lesnar single-handedly eliminates Strowman, Rowan, and Harper.

    Most surprising entrant: Shelton Benjamin
