Royal Rumble 2016: What Worked, What Didn’t

With 6 matches booked, the Royal Rumble seemed liked it would succeed or be a total flop. Personally, the show delivered with matches that were thrilling. Still, some moments were better than others; so let’s take a look at what worked and what didn’t.

If you missed it, WrestleNewz has Royal Rumble play by play coverage.

I don’t agree with #4. Owens clearly was selling his injuries, not just in the Rumble, but on Raw as well

What didn’t work: The heel Kevin Owens who just suffered a last man standing match looked more of a man than the new face Roman Reigns who walked out of the Rumble on his own accord, was backstage for 30+ minutes, comes back and cleans house not selling his injuries from the beat down. Poor booking in my opinion.

I wish there was another “Roman’s sleeping” chant xD

Maybe why he didn’t lay down on the stretcher, but he should have to at least sell the beat down instead of walking to the back, just made him look like a coward.

I’m fine with Lesnar being eliminated by the Wyatt Family but I’m NOT fine with their choice to have him simply shrug it off as “crap happens” and walk to the back. I’m not particularly interested in a series of singles matches until Lesnar faces Bray as it feels like a retread of Kurt Angle and “The World’s Greatest Tag Team” (Haas + Benjamin) but only without a championship being involved (which is precisely what makes it much less interesting).
