Have We Seen The Last Of John Cena?

WWE
By now, I’m sure most of you are aware of John Cena’s shoulder injury, which will keep the superstar out of wrestling action from six to nine months.

Sad news, any way you slice it. This will not only affect current storylines heading into the 2016 Royal Rumble, but the Road to Wrestlemania, as well as this year’s WWE flagship event; which is a huge disappointment to the WWE, whose roster is thinned out as it is, with top-named stars that are injured. However, John Cena is just more than a main event talent; his is currently, one of the brand’s most recognizable figures within the main roster today … the most recognizable talent that is in full-time action. While some rejoice about another break from Cena, millions of WWE fans may be weeping in their Cena merchandise at the thought.

Regardless of talent, a superstar that suffers an injury truly affects the WWE brand. Still, with Seth Rollins out of action, as well as many questioning whether or not Daniel Bryan will even wrestle again; not to mention Cesaro, Sting, and Randy Orton out; WWE’s main event pool is dwindling incredibly, and this has to be a big blow for WWE Officials. Like him or hate him, Cena is an integral part of high-level programs, even when he was playing a secondary role as United States Champion. While his absence may allow for other talents to showcase their abilities, at the same time, a huge demographic, his younger fans, are left without a hero; despite the recent rise in popularity for Roman Reigns.

Speaking of, this may actually be good news for Reigns. As the current top baby face, he will continue to ride the recent wave of momentum he is experiencing. But what does all this mean for John Cena?

Cena is not old by any stretch of the imagination. Considering his current physical condition (injury notwithstanding), he still has a few more solid years of wrestling in him. Still, turning 39 years of age this come April, and with another injury under his belt, will he be looking for a plan B post-recovery? It’s clear, he has a tremendous love for this business, has been a workhorse for the WWE, and remains true and loyal to his fan base; but he’s already dabbling in Hollywood projects, and this injury just may tip the scales over in favor of ventures outside the squared circle. This idea may seem like a good one, especially with live-in girlfriend Nikki Bella on the cusp of winding her Bella Twins career down as well.

Does Cena then go the part-timer route? Is he the type to show up once in a while, and then lay down low? We saw an indication of this nearing the end of the 2015, but this is really the first time in years (if not ever, WNZ fans will correct me if I’m wrong I’m sure …) that Cena has taken extended time off (other than for an injury). He may miss a Monday Night RAW here and there, but taking two months off from pro wrestling is an anomaly for this guy.

Have we seen the last of John Cena? That is a possibility, but I don’t really think so. I do believe this injury may mean his full-time WWE career will wind down at a quicker rate now. Still, this all depends on how long it takes him to recover. The estimated reports are saying six to nine months, but this is Super Cena we are talking about; a man who defies the odds when it comes to medical estimations. We probably won’t see him in time for Wrestlemania 32, as the WWE looks to crash attendance records at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas … but we may see John Cena continue to break historic records in the WWE upon his return … whenever that may be.

What are your thoughts WNZ fans? Will this injury keep John Cena down? Will he move to part-time player, continue with full-time action post-recovery … or potentially walk away from wrestling for good? Leave your comments below!

WWE will trot out Cena longer than Hogan. We make jokes bout Hogan comin out for a match in crutches, it’s more likely we’ll see Cena do that first.

    • MikeLo #NewNation

I don’t think Cena would go on like hogan did

  • ‘Drowen Hart #NewNation ??

I highly doubt that he’ll walk away entirely from the wrestling business. I think he’ll be a part time wrestler. I heard rumors that he’s interested in doing more TV and movie appearances. If he does, good for him because now I don’t have to see the same old s–t he’s done the last couple of years lol. Considering how he recovers fast from his injuries, I say he’ll be back before Summerslam. The main question for Vince is do you stick with the current roster or do you call up some of the NXT wrestlers to fill the void and for potential Wrestlemania storylines and matches?

Interesting question. My hope is that this is the time to give the fans and Ziggler the push he deserves

I’m not buying that timeline when it comes to Cena, hell i’m even expecting him to win the Rumble!

    • Dorathy

Lol! He`s called Super Cena for a reason!

  • D.M.T

Don’t be so dramatic, he’ll be back. I’m hoping he becomes a part time wrestler. I’m tired of him.

  • The Shockmaster

Don’t worry Dorathy, Cena 2.0 will be here to take his place unfortunately

    • Dorathy

Phew! You’re right! Now I feel better!

    • Dorathy

      Thank you!

The last of John Cena as WWE Champ, yes.

  • El Marichachi

I’m just glad that means he won’t get to get the belt at least till ss. I think it’s bullshit that he’s getting that 16 time champion

  • Mike

I really doubt it. He will continue full time after his injury for a few years. He will break flairs record for world titles I think. Summerslam is probably a realistic event for cena’s return its around seven months away. Also normally Cena comes back from injuries quicker than expected and I don’t see why this would be any different.

I take this no ill will but they can definitely use this time to build up more superstas.
