Teaming Bray Wyatt & Roman Reigns Helped Both Superstars

Wyatt Family
In a crazy twist of events, the WWE Universe witnessed Bray Wyatt teaming up with Roman Reigns to take on the League of Nations. While at first it didn’t make any sense, post-match, I applaud WWE Creative. Brilliant move, and well-played, for a number of reasons. While it may have been done to help Reigns more than Wyatt, both superstars were able to benefit it from it.

Face Turn

First, it solidified the Wyatt family’s face turn. Last week, I wasn’t sure what was going on with the Wyatts. Despite them coming in to save Roman this week, I still thought Bray was going to turn on Reigns (perhaps vice versus too) during the match; and when he didn’t, it was quite apparent that the Wyatts are now on the good guy’s side, and I really can’t wait to see what they’ll do next. In my opinion, a Wyatt face turn works, and I hope it will only help to further elevate the Family, and blast Bray into a title race program. It never hurts to main event RAW, and close the show. While Bray Wyatt has done this numerous times in the past, this time, he was a face; and this time, as a welcomed change, he and his tag team partner actually won the match.

Cheering Reigns

Okay, so perhaps fans might not have been ‘cheering’ for Roman Reigns (and there were some jeers in mix), the show didn’t necessarily end with Reigns’ hands in the air, booming to some loud boos. Sticking him with a newly turned face, that was well over as a heel, may not have helped Reigns get over; but hey, it was step in the right direction … and it couldn’t hurt him or his character … right?

Cool Factor

In all seriousness, considering their feud, and the ‘anyone but you’ catchphrase that Bray used on Reigns (and rang through every fan’s mind mentally for months while they battled it out); it was pretty cool to see Reigns and Wyatt stand side-by-side in the ring. It not only added to the cool factor, it also added to the surprise factor – that seems to be a reoccurring theme on RAW as of late – as I was a shocked to see these two team up.

I don’t foresee a future alliance; I don’t even think this storyline will really progress any further than it has. But, as a fan of both superstars, for one moment in time, it was interesting to see these play on the same team for once, watching their differing dynamics unfold.

I don’t think its a face turn for the Wyatts, post match Ambrose and others teamed up with Reigns against the Wyatts in the dark match.

I think if anything, it could be a heel turn for Reigns in the near future ala Rock/Nation of Domination. They just need some top superstars to return so he can get a switch because there aren’t many faces in the company right now.

i agree. I read about the dark match on RAW too, and i’m left confused. I guess we will all have to wait to see how its played out. :)

They were booing reigns. little cheers. not cheers with boos thrown in. Only cheers was garnered towards Wyatt. They even cheered Sheamus when he did his punch thing on the ropes, and got behind Del Rio as well. So if that doesnt tell you where Reigns stands in the eyes of fans you really are a diehard fangirl living in denial.

They started something good with Reigns on Post WM raw, but they just went back to the norm this week.

well sarcasm aside. you do write good columns and have better opinions than other columnists at times. but this article reeks of bias i have to say.

Thank you. And I seriously do like your comments. It’s all good. We don’t need to always agree to have respect; and truly respect your opinion.

  • ‘Drowen Hart #NBNC ???????

It helps Bray Wyatt if they’re actually going to go with this babyface run but I’m not sure how it helps this poor dude lol…

Fair enough. Kayfabe News had an awesome tweet during RAW that made me chuckle:

      I’m not a good guy.I’m not a bad guy.I’m not an interesting guy.I’m not a popular guy.I’m not a Paul Heyman guy….— Kayfabe News (@KayfabeNews) April 12, 2016

Thanks for writing. That was one of the most interesting matches I’ve seen in a long time. Shared history between Bray, Roman, and the LON plus Roman and Bray having been moving away a bit from their face and heel roles drew me in completely. The Wyatt/Reigns enemies who can be reluctant allies dynamic could go on for the rest of their careers, there’s that much intensity between the two.

Nothing can save Reigns as his character is ruined. Send him to NXT for a few years with a fresh persona.
