Reaction To Triple H On Steve Austin’s Podcast

February 3, 2015

I felt like a kid on Christmas that Monday, February 2nd, when two of my favorite superstars of all time, sat down (for a little over an hour) to discuss the business, Triple H’s career, NXT, and his love life. I loved everything about this article; from watching the ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin podcast with guest Triple H, to writing the article (feverishly) early next morning. The interview in itself was honest, to the point, and I almost felt like a fly on the wall getting a sneak peek into two old friends, having a frank discussion about the industry they once dominated, what it was like then, and what it is like now. This interview also took place off the cusp of Roman Reigns winning the 2015 Royal Rumble (and all that controversy); so it was interesting to gain HHH’s perspective (as well as SCSA’s) on that situation. Then, there was the whole Chyna controversy from the interview (not to mention the fallout and reaction from Chyna post-interview). Stone Cold, Triple H, and wrestling in general; I knew this was an article I had to include in my top 2015 favorites.

The Reality Of WWE’s PG-Era

February 5, 2015

I guess I was on a roll that week, because searching back into the archives, I found this feature, that stuck out to me as well. While watching an episode of Wrestlemania Rewind (on the WWE Network) which spotlighted the big WM3 Hulk Hogan versus Andre The Giant main event, I reminisced how that Wrestlemania moment affected me, during my childhood. The show reminded me that while I may find some current WWE storylines silly, there is a slew of next generation fans that are falling in love with the brand, because of these programs. While kayfabe may be dead for some adults; it is alive and well in younger wrestling fans worldwide.

Taking ‘Diva’ Out Of #GiveDivasAChance

April 10, 2015

Moving along through 2015, inspired by WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, I wrote a piece about scrapping the term diva, and re-branding WWE’s women’s division. I truly believe 2015 was a huge year from women’s wrestling in the WWE, as the fans cried out for more from their favorite female talent; and it seems that the company has listened and is taking action. While I don’t think they will be removing the term diva as it relates to their female talent (partially due to the incredible success of Total Divas), I do think the WWE is looking at further enhance storylines and matches for their female talent, and they do recognize that these women have more to offer than just good looks.

Dear WWE Creative …

November 3, 2015

Rounding off the year, something that is quite special to me, are my newly introduced ‘Dear WWE Creative’ weekly pieces. While watching Neville lose yet another match on Monday Night RAW in late October (at that point, he had been losing for a few weeks on end), sparked a need to write to the WWE Creative team … to vent. So I did; and WNZ readers got a chance to read all about my gripes with the WWE. Since, some have been positive letters, some negative, and others indifferent. Now a weekly staple on the site, I like to think they provide an opportunity for all of us ‘Rasslin’ fans to offer insight on the current state of storylines, programs, and feuds within the WWE; providing a platform for discussion on the WNZ site.
