WNZ Open Season: Does Street Fight Need Blood

WrestleMania
Here’s a direct question to discuss amongst ourselves. Does the no holds barred street fight, between Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar, absolutely need blood to be considered a success?

I have a side of me that says yes. And a smaller side of me that says no. I’ll get the fun part out of the way early.

Yes, it does.

Simple, right? It’s a no holds barred street fight, folks. Hide the women and children. Don’t show this match to the faint of heart. This one HAS to be bloody and violent. It just has to be. I mean, we’ve already seen one man-Ambrose-practically thrown through a car windshield. And now, none other than the Hardcore Legend himself, Mick Foley, has gifted Ambrose a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire that would make Negan smile. You do not gift someone such a weapon if you do not intend to use it, and you do not permit your talent to use a bat like that, if you aren’t prepared for them to bleed.

For another reason, both Hunter and Roman have bled, on RAW, in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania. Yes, I get that it’s your main event, and you are hopelessly trying to get over a man whom so few fans seem to want over. So you are doing all that you can, and it’s not working. But, if you are willing to let them bleed, then you have to accept that one or both men, come time for the street fight, will end up a crimson mess.

No, it doesn’t.

No match needs blood. I would agree with that point. A five star match, a match of the year, can occur without a single drop of blood hitting the mat. That a wrestler (or wrestlers) bled during a match does not make it MOTY worthy on it’s own (if it did, there’d be a lot of ECW matches up there for the award). So no, it does not need blood to be a success, but the use of that element can make or break it, in the sense that, it makes the match that much more meaningful. The animosity, the tension, it all resonates that much more when one or both combatants are busted open-not for the sake of being busted open, but for the sake of telling the right story.

If the story is there, and blood accentuates it, then do it.

WNZ readers, do you think the street fight needs it?

Well I know for a fact Brock will be bleeding lol

    • Joseph Lisnow

but will the camera catch it?

  • Mike

They’ll be blood. No doubt about it. Wwe seem to be open to blood in some cases. We have seen brock bleed a lot and taker, and lately with hhh and Roman.

  • Lisa

I must admit, I haven’t read the article. I’ll read it later. I’m just gonna answer your question, John: YES!

    • Joseph Lisnow

      how can anyone say no.

  • ‘Drowen Hart #NewNation ??????

Every street fight match needs blood. It’s more realistic. It brings more psychology into the match in my opinion. They had to scale back obviously due to health risks and not wanting to piss off sponsors but if you’re promoting a match like this as extreme, violent and hardcore, everyone should expect blood in the match right?

  • Trace Harston Hanner

I agree with you 100% John. If you bring Mick Foley into a storyline and he brings something that includes barbed wire, there should be blood no doubt about it.

  • MEH

There better be blood with the Micker giving Ambrose his and Negans weapon of choice. There better be fire, tacks, glass and all out carnage too.
