- CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight Title was announced for Night of Champions on last night’s SmackDown. The only other match officially announced is Mickie James vs. Maryse for the Divas Championship.

- Through ECW’s New Superstar Initiative, developmental wrestler Sheamus made his much anticipated WWE debut on this past Tuesday’s episode of ECW, defeating enhancement talent Oliver John. Sheamus had worked numerous dark matches and live events for the RAW brand in recent weeks.

In a trivia note, Sheamus was originally scheduled to be called up to the main roster shortly after April’s draft as a member of the RAW roster. Original plans called for him to be paired up with Hornswoggle, but it was ultimately nixed.
