Zack Ryder’s Rescue Bombs Big on RAW, Brodus Clay’s Debut and More

- As noted before, the January 9th RAW Supershow did a 2.86 rating with 4 million viewers up against the Alabama vs. LSU BCS Championship football game which did a 16.22 rating and 24.21 million viewers.

In the segment breakdown, Sheamus and Santino Marella vs. Wade Barrett and Jinder Mahal lost 238,000 viewers from the opener. The Edge Hall of Fame announcement, a segment with Eve Torres and Zack Ryder plus Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston gained 100,000 viewers back.

Brodus Clay’s debut vs. Curt Hawkins plus a segment with The Miz, Primo and Epico lost 82,000 viewers. In the 10pm timeslot, CM Punk vs. Jack Swagger did a 3.00 rating and gained 128,000 viewers – another bad number for 10pm.

Backstage segments with The Bellas, The Miz, Ricardo Rodriguez, John Cena and Zack Ryder plus the Four Horsemen Hall of Fame video lost 193,000 viewers. The segment with R-Truth & Rodriguez plus the brawl with The Miz and Chris Jericho’s appearance lost 130,000 viewers.

The segment with Eve Torres in the ring, Kane coming out and Zack Ryder trying to save her by taking her to his car lost 544,000 viewers and did a 2.39 quarter rating. It’s a bad sign when RAW loses over a half-million viewers before the main event. The main event of Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler and the end segment in the parking lot gained 640,000 viewers for a 2.84 overrun rating. This is about normal viewership for the overrun but the second-lowest rating going back to 1997.

During the Cena vs. Ziggler main event, Male Teens went from a 2.4 rating to a 2.6, Males 18-49 went from a 2.3 to a 2.6, Female Teens went from a 1.0 to a 1.2 and Females 18-49 went from a 0.8 to a 1.0 rating.

damn…man if this continues zack will be back to being a jobber and they r gonna the us title on swagger, also he has getting a few boos from the crowd recently, probably because they have put him alongside cena….hope this trend stops and zack keeps getting pushed

The main issue with Ryder right now is that he has become a full blown Cena sidekick. Fans will, and already are starting to turn on him as a result of this. This storyline with Eve isnt exactly helping either as she is the complete opposite of him with a lack of any charisma.

@ShoeHornOPlenty: but the viewers should be smart enough to understand that zack doesnt make the storylines, right now wwe is cashing in on his popularity and is trying to give him some exposure with the whole cena and kane thing. i for one dont wana see him in a feud with swagger, people will quickly lose interest in that

@bob: man thats the catch phrase which started all this. people wouldnt have cared about ryder for one bit if he hadnt started that youtube show (just look at hawkins). at this point he cant go back, a gimmick change would kill his fan following. he has worked hard for his push for 44 weeks, he cant throw it all away.

man oh man you guys will blame cena for everything. it’s amazing you know, how the numbers never match up with your arguments. S@#! must sting. i admit, i’m starting to like cena… making you guys look like idiots.

Its not so much to do with hating Cena as much as it is that Ryder is acting like Robin to his Batman. Them being Broskis, hey great its what helped get him the exposure but him being the third wheel in the Cena/Kane is going to hurt him.

dont knw whats the deal with eve…cant think of a role that would suit her..bella twins play the gimmick of gold digging twins competing amongst themselves, kelly z lyk the barbie doll underdog, beth and natalya and tamina are the powerhouses of the divas division etc..almost every diva has a gimmick except for eve…she is a natural face and i dnt think she can play a heel and her previous pairings with truth and masters completely bombed…dnt knw why they have paired zack with her

Reason why Ryder is getting booed now is because the fans who supported him are sick of him being in backstage segments with Cena every god damn week. They hate Cena so why wouldn’t they boo Ryder who’s now in a segment with EVE and Cena every week. Both who they hate besides the annoying ass shaking she does ( Which obviously shouldn’t event be in WWE PG product ) But yeah more Edgy PG Is good but please everyone is starting to turn on Ryder cause of Cena. They don’t wanna see Cena fist pumping with him cause it obviously ruins the fans who supported Ryder cause they dopn’t want to see Cena do what Ryder does IE Fist pumping. Just like when Cena was fist pumping with Ryder during the tag match/ the broski boot. Fan didn’t really wanna cheer but they want to support Ryder but now are getting sick of it cause of Cena. Get Ryder Off EVE and get Cena off Ryder lol then maybe it would be fine. Also fuck WWE for saying CM Punk draw poor ratings when it’s obviously cause football. Also No man wants to watch Cena in four to 5 segments. opening/closing the show god WWE realize that already!

I’ve never been fully sold on Ryder, i respect his hard work in getting himself over despite creative team indifference toward him but he’s oh so limited in the ring and on the mic. All he has right now is that exasperated/ overexcited response to everything he’s told, and i think people are beginning to tire of it. Even the merchandise has gotten ridiculous, sure you don’t have to buy it, but back when Ryder started getting known he only flogged normal stuff, t shirts, glasses etc but now they’re whoring him out, creating tat and pinning it on him during promos. The Eve stuff feels forced, as if creative knew that putting the title on the guy would kill his underdog status, hence the unlucky in love character we’ve gotten now to rekindle that angle. And as for the cena connection, i think it’s sad how many ways WWE are attempting to give cena false credibility. Hanging out, copying and battling for the new star, check, having Kane place fans in a position alongside Cena against him, check, having legends like Foley and to a lesser extent Piper endorse him? Gah, ratings like these make me wonder whether the majority of fans are just little kids these days
