Backstage News On Damien Sandow’s Release From WWE

Zeb Colter
Damien Sandow was released from WWE last Friday, and there were many within the company that was shocked to learn about his release.

WWE told Sandow that he was not released because of anything he did, according to PWInsider. However, WWE felt that it was time for the company to freshen up things on the main roster and was forced to cut him.

Sandow’s first stint with WWE was from 2002 – 2007, and he worked in OVW during that time. He returned to the company in 2010 and was called up to the main roster in 2012. During his time with WWE, he won the Tag Team Title once and was the 2013 Money in the Bank winner.

Hornswoggle, El Torito, Cameron, Alex Riley, King Barrett, Santino Marella and Zeb Colter were also released from the company.

Back in the Attitude Era and Ruthless Agression days, people who got over on their own, WWE takes advantage of it and lets them succeed.

Today’s era, some of these guys that go over on their own and WWE fails to capitalize on it because of ? booking or the perception of Vince hating the fact that you got over on your own instead of through his creative thinking, then they put them at the bottom of the totem pole until they’re never heard from again.

Really wish they would have let him just run w the macho mandow gimmick…they should have done a stable of low card guys playing 80’s legends…zack ryder as the ultimate Ryder, macho mandow, axelmania, some nobody diva as a miss Liz type etc…could have had some very entertaining storylines even if reliving the past ones

    just like the miz said..

    Horrible decision by Vince.

If they’re cutting wrestlers etc to freshen things up then why have so many in the first place when they don’t give a lot of them the chance or they get rid of ones who could have really done well

Just another case of “its not you, it’s us, we’re just fucking stupid and don’t know what direction to take half of our talent.”
Sandow was a good face and an even better heel, if u wanna freshen things up include him in it stories, seeing as how he hardly has TV time anyway..
