Backstage News on Punk vs. Ryback & Heyman, Colt-WWE Update

– We noted before Colt Cabana revealed on Steve Austin’s podcast that he was scheduled for a WWE announcers tryout soon but then downplayed the reports on Twitter. Despite Cabana saying “no WWE for me”, word within WWE is that he’s still scheduled for a tryout some time in November.

– CM Punk was written into plans for last Tuesday’s SmackDown tapings but was pulled because he’s banged up and officials didn’t want him to get injured any more going into tonight’s Hell In a Cell pay-per-view.

Word going around WWE creative is that Punk is going into the pay-per-view hurt and that’s probably going to affect how his match with Ryback and Paul Heyman is booked tonight. Tonight’s match is not scheduled to be the end of the Punk vs. Heyman feud.

Survivor Series 5 on 5 elimination ; R-Truth, Punk, Big E Langston, Usos V.S Heyman, Ryback, Curtis Axel, Fandango, and Brock LESNAR!

    • YM5

      why the Usos? and Fandango?

    • KingBack

      Doesn’t make sense.

  • KingBack

So the question is (with Punk injuried) will the match be worse than last year?

    • Lara_P1

Punk isnt to blame for the lousy matches with Ryberg. Punk is a great wrestler but he can only do so much to carry a mediocre wrestler like Ryberg.

      • KingBack

Let’s see how it turns out tonight…

I wish that feud would end so Punk can move on to better things, like maybe helping Daniel Bryan against Triple H. Especially since Triple H is one of the guys that tried to stop Punk’s push back in 2011, even leading to a match, which of course Triple H won.

Nope. Punk and Bryan shouldn’t be working the same program unless they’re facing each other. Not to mention it would – albeit unintentionally – undermine WWE’s effort to push Bryan as a singles main-eventer. I think Punk came back far too soon from his last layoff, more for WWE’s sake than his own. Not to say that Punk has been overexposed, but WWE needs to learn the value of ‘next man up’. If you’re talking investments/money, if I was Vince, I’d much rather take a chance on pushing an available midcarder up to the main event temporarily just to see how he does than to ask a talent to come back before his body’s fully healed. Maybe it’ll be at a cost short-term, but it’ll keep your top draws able to wrestle longer.

      • Joseph Douglas

And now they are working the same program.

Punk needs to knock off this vegetarian crap and eat some meat, no wonder he’s all broken down….

    • Lara_P1

what the hell does being vegan have to do with injuries? lol

        Vegetarian, not Vegan.

        • Lara_P1

he was a vegan at one point and regardless what does not eating meat have to do with injuries? there is no relation whatsoever.

Apparently he still eats fish, so that would mean he’s a pescetarian.

      • D-INCARNATION

Your body needs a good amount of quality protein for growth and repair, a vegetarian diet just doesn’t make sense….

        • Lara_P1

i can see where one would think that, but it’s a myth that vegetarians dont get good quality protein. im no vegetarian, but i know good protein can be attained from other sources, other than meat.
