CM Punk and WWE Address ‘Crowd Incident’ At Raw On Monday

Following an incident involving CM Punk and fans at Monday night’s Raw event in Sacramento, California, WWE issued an official statement through its official website expressing regret that proper security measures were not set. The WWE Champion also gave his side of the story.

WWE’s official statement reads: “During Monday night’s Raw televised event, WWE Superstar CM Punk exited the ring and into the stands as part of the show. Unfortunately, WWE security was not in the appropriate place at the time. Given CM Punk’s persona as a ‘bad guy,’ fans were naturally heckling him, but unfortunately a few fans began shoving him, and one struck him in the kidney and on the back. WWE regrets that proper security measures were not in place, and CM Punk apologizes for reacting in the heat of the moment. Other than this isolated incident, WWE always provides proper security to ensure the safety of our fans and our performers.”

“I think the whole situation sucks,” Punk told WWE.com. “It’s an unfortunate and isolated incident. I was up in the stands, surrounded.”

“Somebody said, ‘let’s push him down the stairs,’” Punk explained. “I got hit in the ribs three times. I was getting shoved and I was getting punched…Then I started getting tagged in the back of the head. Unfortunately, I lashed out in the heat of the moment and I apologize. I’m really just glad nobody was hurt.”

people should know, he isn’t an asshole, its just a character like geeze, i’m sure if punk met the actual guy he’d shove him down the stairs

  • Dro

It’s because of dumbass fans like that, we won’t see any wrestlers fight in the crowd anymore or even walk through the crowd.
Thanks a lot you fucking idiots.

  • rob

“Lets push him down the stairs” WOW What a fucking sack of shit…..god damn scumbags

“Then I started getting tagged in the back of the head…”
just wondering, what does that mean?

  • maxpower

Deep down Punk would do it again. Punk is a jerk to many who disrespect him(in real life) that is who he is and he admits it.

  • lel

I hope that shit fan gets hit by 15 cars.

I feel sorry for the cars.

  • The_Shaman

@kyle- not the first time Punk has had problems with fans (In Australia he called one a “homo”) and in IWA MS he trashed wrestlers for no reason but because he was having a bad day, He is a shit person and should be punished for an action that has occurred in a long time.

if he is a jerk he will get his … I seen the way he talks .. Punk thinks his s##t dnt stink … The only reason he has held the title this long cause he threw a fit .. He was going home .. Since being chump i mean champion ..He has always been a chump .. He has not head line 1 pay per view on his own … Guess what it was Cena who still got the main card .. Last week he couldn’t bring in the ratings .. They brought back Cena cause C.M Drunk cant cut the muster .. To be called the best in the world not only do u have to wrestle you have to put asses in the seats and be called for appearances .. I seen other wrestlers more on tv then Drunk … Face it C.M Punk fans … He is not as popular as you wish he was .. To every 10 Punk fans the there is 1000 Cena fans .. And if you guys want to throw a fit cause what i said … Look at the numbers … They dnt lie

  • Erwin

@Rich those numbers prove nothing but the current WWE demographic. Punk’s fans are those who follow the indies as well as what’s left of WWE’s attitude era (or pre-PG) fans who still stuck with WWE despite the horrible state that WWE is in.

Yeah sure every 100 true wrestling fans you might find 1000 kids, pre-teens, and fan girls who should have nothing to do with wrestling, screaming for Cena. That really doesn’t say much except that WWE is in probably their worst shape ever.

  • Rich

Say what you want .. In every thing you do in life you are judge by numbers .. If you have a business you need numbers to keep it open .. If you have a job you need numbers or you get fired … Its like Obama … He just wants you to see his good intension’s but does not want you to see how bad the economy is … I seen young n old females n guys .. If you cant cut the muster you shouldn’t be number1 …

  • Rich

Ratting and merchandise sales do count … Nexus was not NWO .. But NWO brought in numbers .. Punk lead nexus n how long did it last … I know many Cena fans from the attitude era .. Punk is not the only1 that has them bro

  • Erwin

Rating? what rating? when was the last time this PG era ever had a good rating? their PPV buy numbers generally suck, it all seems big numbers mainly because they’ve increased the price of each PPVs (and inflation of course). I’m not sure about merchandises but in the age of internet like today it’s easier to rack up profits considering the WWE.com shop didn’t even exist during the attitude era. Can you imagine how much more profit they’d make had people in 1990s had access to high-speed internet like today?
