Cody Rhodes Told To Leave WWE Years Ago By Late Father Dusty Rhodes

WWE
Cody Rhodes did an interview with Wrestledelphia Radio and during it, he talked about whether his dad would have supported him leaving WWE. It turns out Dusty Rhodes had told Cody to leave a few years earlier.

“I waited until WrestleMania 32 to take his advice,” said Cody. “[Dusty] just thought that I was so close to the keys to the kingdom, and they were slipping away, that maybe leaving would wake them to the idea that this is somebody who wanted to captain your ship and the way you guys are treating him has pushed him out.”

At WrestleMania 28, Cody lost his Intercontinental Championship to Big Show. It marked Big Show’s first major singles win in WrestleMania history.

Cody is now taking Indy appearances, which includes an upcoming match against Sonjay Dutt for Global Force Wrestling.

Shortly after Cody left WWE, his wife Brandi followed. His older brother, Goldust, remains with the company.
