Semi Final Match #1: Gran Metalik vs. Zack Sabre, Jr

Bell sounds and the match starts off fast. Sabre is knocked outside and Metalik comes flipping over the top rope laying Sabre out on the floor. Back inside and Metalik springboards into a senton on Sabre. Then he gets tangled up in the ropes and Sabre hits some chops.

Sabre locks Metalik’s head between his feet and twists the luchadors neck. Sabre then locks on a head scissors and combines it with a boston crab type leg bend. Sabre gets Metalik in a snap mare position but is arm dragged to the mat. Metalik comes off the ropes with some forearms. Sabre returns the forearms.

Metalik then locks up a submission that has no known name (This is going to be the most difficult PBP ever. So fast and so innovative. I’ll do my best)

Sabre turns the tables and slows things down. He stomps on Metalik’s head and lands a few shots. Then he grabs Metalik’s arms and stretches them out backwards. Metalik hits the corner and Sabre comes charging after but is hit with a super kick. Then Metalik hits a spinning bulldog. Irish whip and Metalik with the drop toe hold but Sabre transitions into a pin attempt. Kick out. Metalik then gets a “hammer lock, combined with a head scissors or triangle,” so says Daniel Bryan.

They trade shots and Metalik lays Sabre out with a running lariat. Then he hits another super kick and a springboard back elbow on Sabre. Pin and a 2-count. Metalik jumps onto the middle ropes and jumps off but Sabre hits a big forearm and knocks him down. Then Sabre hits the Penalty Kick for a 2-count. Both men are on their knees and go back and forth exchanging forearm shots.

A few sequences and Sabre tries to lock in the Octopuss. Metalik escapes. Sabre sets up for a superplex but Metalik pushes him off and hits a hurricanrana. Metalik springboards but gets caught in a triangle. Metalik escapes. Sabre goes for a European Uppercut but Metalik lifts him on his shoulders and lands the Metalik Driver for the win.

Winner: Gran Metalik

Gran Metalik says he is Numero Uno. I personally have a hard time connecting with characters who wear Luchador masks but that’s just me. I think being able to see a face is important to getting people emotionally invested.
