Jim Cornette Not Sold On Shinsuke Nakamura Being Made Top WWE Star

Shinsuke Nakamura is the latest star from around the world to join NXT. While there are high hopes for Shinsuke, Jim Cornette isn’t sure if WWE can properly book him.

“I think it comes down to he will be a superstar in NXT and people are going to love him whenever he appears with that brand. And when he gets to the main roster, I’ve got to be honest with you, I think it depends on how Vince sees him,” said Cornette. “I think a guy like Nakamura’s another guy like [Steve] Austin and Brock [Lesnar] and essentially the more he’s himself and he’s allowed to do his thing, the better off he’ll be.”

At NXT Takeover Dallas, Nakamura made his debut by wrestling Sami Zayn. After 20 minutes, Nakamura pinned Zayn.

Cornette is honestly, one of the best professional wrestling minds today. Everything he says is logical, practical, to the point and hilarious when mixed with profanities XD

He is a bit old fashioned, but that’s what the business needs – to return to times when the wrestling business protected it’s future. Couple Vince Russo’s outlandish and over-the-top ideas, Jim’s approach to booking (over writing), protection of the business and his gift for giving practical solutions to problems, and Vince McMahon’s ability to filter the other 2 guys – then you have what made the Attitude Era special.

I honestly agree with Cornette. I’d love for Shinsuke or Hideo to be the first ever Japanese WWE Champion but it’ll all go down as to how Vince wants them to succeed.

Can’t see someone who isn’t coherent In English be given the top wwe title.

He could be silent with a manager but I agree, someone like Funaki can translate but it’s broken English with him too. Still I’m open to the idea. Inoki was actually WWE Champion but the reign isn’t recognized.
