How Long Is Shane McMahon Expected To Stay On WWE TV?

As noted, Shane McMahon will wrestle The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 32. If Shane wins the match, then he gets control of WWE, but if The Undertaker wins then Vince McMahon gets full control.

McMahon’s deal with WWE is for him to be a short-term performer on TV and he will appear on TV through WrestleMania. Shane signed with WWE four weeks ago. Very few people knew that Shane would be returning to the company.

It’s said that Vince McMahon really wanted John Cena to wrestle The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 because he thought the match would be a big headliner. With Cena going down with a shoulder injury, this led to McMahon making the decision to bring his son back.

Vince: Cena’s hurt! Who will Taker wrestle dammit?!
Writers: Umm how about AJ Styles or Kevin Owens sir? Finn Balor? Sheamus?
Vince: I know, get Shane dammit!

Well, so much for Lisa stating a few days ago that it was a FACT that Cena was wrestling Undertaker AND he would win. There goes her contract with this site

    • Mark B.

And I was personally told that it would be Sting. Things change!

They’re not booking this with the endgame being any sort of quality wrestling match. And they’re not going to bring Shane in to suddenly go over the Undertaker clean. Even if they wanted to, I don’t think Shane would allow it. He’s got too much respect for the business. And, of course, Shane’s 45, hasn’t wrestled a match in years, and really hasn’t aged well. It’s not like having a guy like Wyatt, who’s in his prime, or Triple H, who can still go.

I’m curious as to what Taker’s thought process was and why he keeps agreeing to these matches instead of just hanging up the boots. There’s no longer any Streak to defend and the way he’s been booked since the Lesnar match doesn’t leave WWE in a better state than it had been.

Taker’s been the ultimate company man, but I’m honestly starting to wonder if this relationship between himself and WWE has become one of unhealthy codependency. I think Undertaker should have either retired undefeated or skipped a WrestleMania after the loss and made everyone THINK he was retired before returning for his revenge match against Lesnar and leaving with a win for his last match. WWE’s unwilling to give Undertaker a booking that moves the company as a whole forward, and Undertaker’s unwilling to walk away and is too content to just lap up whatever slop WWE throws down in front of him. And as a guy that was a very good wrestler in his prime, it’s a damn shame Undertaker’s allowed himself to be reduced to WWE’s security blanket. They’d rather have a subpar Undertaker match, or an Undertaker match that makes no freaking sense, then just leaving the spot open, if only for a year, and perhaps having two matches with some underutilized talent that could be sleeper hits and make you some new stars going forward.

So we should put all our money on Shane ?
