Matt Hardy has announced his retirement as a full-time professional wrestler, citing problems with his hips. I don't want to see him go. He is a good wrestler. I like his brother too. I want to know about Jeff. Matt needs to wrestle still. Sometimes they say their leaving and they come back. Time will tell. I hope he does get help and has a full recovery.

How can he hope to help people with their addictions, when he won’t address his own?
The best news out of all this is Hardy announcing his retirement.
His behaviour lately, including the suicide hoax video, effectively killed his career.
He had no choice but to retire.
It’s the best thing for him right now, and besides, other than tag teaming with his brother, Matt’s career was mediocre at best.
That’s just my opinion, of course, but I know I’m not alone in that opinion.

Are you and GunShark serious? I have no way of really knowing, of course, but my hunch is that any number of indies would pony up some dough to hire him – though not necessarily as more than a fly-in. Still, I really doubt that he couldn't get work.

Most of the time, when it comes to Matt and Jeff, I’m just being an ass. Maybe I should be more upset at the wrestling business itself, since they aren’t the only ones whose downfall has been drugs and alcohol.

To answer your question, yes, I was serious when I said no one would want Matt in their promotion. A one-time deal could be possible, I’ll agree, but only after some time passes, so his actions from the past two weeks won’t be in the forefront of everyone’s minds, and, of course, if Matt doesn’t do anything else as equally stupid, or worse. But as far as a full-time career? No, I don’t see it, at least not in the foreseeable future. Besides, he retired, unless this, too, is a work.

I wish he retired from the internet.

You know, I've always liked the Hardys, but I really jumped on Matt's bandwagon after the whole Edge/Lita affair (funny that that's what it took). I feel the WWE really dropped the ball on that program, as that is arguably when Matt was at his best as a professional wrestler and he was over the most as a singles competitor.

I always had has back as a fan when other people took Edge's side and said Matt was bitching to the world about getting screwed over by his ex and losing his job. Sure, that probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. I hated how, after the Edge angle, he was basically buried for the rest of his WWE career. He won one ECW title (a title that was meaningless by then), and with the exception of a reunion with Jeff in late 2006, he never really got that big break many of us fans hoped for, let alone a world title run. I think he was always the better wrestler of the two brothers, if not the more popular one.

However, TNA gave Matt a great chance to start fresh, and he blew it. He basically slapped them in the face. I was hoping his "Cold Blood" character would go somewhere. At the end, Matt really blew perhaps his final chance, and this was the last straw for me as a fan. It's hard to believe if he is sincere in this video, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was another work. Hope not, but lately, it seems that Matt had made more headlines out of the ring and on You Tube than in the ring. Edge, while I can't stand the things he has done as a person, became a terrific wrestler, mic worker and entertainer, and I actually grew to enjoy him. Perhaps he's an ass, but he took advantage of the opportunities he was given, although one might wonder if Matt would have rise to the occasion if the WWE would have pushed him the same way. Regardless, Matt dropped the ball, and he has lost me as a fan. If he ever comes back, I hope he gets his shit straight, stops worrying about shocking people on You Tube and returns to wowing people as a wrestler.

Great post dude, you've hit all the nails on their proverbial heads. I do think it would take a long, long time for him to win back any credibility, though.

He should retire from wrestling, twitter & youtube. He was such a popular wrestler along with his brother Jeff then he became a scumbag once he started doing those youtube videos where he talks a lot of shit about wrestlers and doing embarrassing stuff like the suicide video and claiming he’s found the spirits of finding himself and all that bullshit. He says he wants to help people… Matt help yourself before one of these days you’ll find yourself dead if you keep on destroying yourself with all this bullshit.
