Monday Night Raw: 8 pm EST

The show opens up with General Managers Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon standing in the ring. They welcome everyone to Raw and then introduce WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor. It has been reported that Finn Balor was injured last night during his title match with Seth Rollins, and that he will be relinquishing the belt in lieu of that.

Finn comes to the ring wearing a sling on his right arm and is given a microphone. He says the belt he is holding represents a life time of sacrifice and if you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything. Last night, he did the impossible. But there was also a sacrifice. He thanks all the talent in the back. He thanks Seth Rollins for giving him the match of his life. And then he thanks the crowd to which they respond with a chorus of “Thank you Finn” chants.

He confirms that he has to relinquish the title but that when he comes back it’s the first thing he’s coming for. As he leaves the arena with his music playing, suddenly Rollins’ music hits and out he comes. Rollins has a big grin on his face as he passes Balor in the aisle and joins the GMs in the ring. He grabs a mic and tells the crowd that we now know who the real winner of last night’s match was. He says that since the belt is now vacant, and he’s there, that its obvious something must be done to rectify this situation.

Sami Zayn’s music hits and he comes out to the ring. Rollins and Zayn start mouthing off to each other. Then Chris Jericho’s music hits and he walks out. Then Kevin Owens comes out. Everbody is campaigning for a shot at the title. Enzo Amore and Big Cass then strut out to the ring. The crowd belts out in unison, “How you doin?”. Now Roman Reigns music erupts over the sound system and he’s in the ring as well. The highly intellectual crowd starts chanting “We want Slater!” Who doesn’t??

Foley and Steph announce that there will be a tournament for the title tonight. Starting off the night will be a match with Rollins and Zayn.

Singles Match: Seth Rollins vs. Sami Zayn

The ring clears out and Rollins attacks Zayn from behind. Commercial break.

Back again and Zayn hits a chop across Rollins’ chest and starts hammering him in the corner. Rollins goes for a powerbomb on the outside but Zayn fights out of it. Zayn hops on top of the barricade and hits a moonsault on Rollins. Back in the ring and Rollins regains control. He stomps a mudhole in Zayn and then hits a shoulder tackle off an irish whip. Rollins methodically picks apart Zayn and the crowd chants in equal measure for both men.

Zayn suddenly starts favoring his ankle and appears to be injured. Rollins backdrops Zayn over the top rope to the outside. Commercial break.

Back from commercial and Zayn clotheslines Rollins into the 5th dimension. Rollins fires back off a whip with a spin kick. He puts Zayn on the top rope and sets up for a superplex. Zayn fights frantically to counter and hits a sunset slip into powerbomb off the top turnbuckle. He pins but Rollins kicks out at 2.

Rollins goes for the Pedigree but Zayn reverses and sends Rollins soaring with a belly-to-belly suplex. He goes for a Helluva Kick but Rollins gets a foot up as Zayn charges in. Zayn goes for a suplex but is countered and Rollins plants him with a Pedigree and a 3 count.

Winner: Seth Rollins
