Neville On Suffering A Broken Ankle And When He Expects To Return

Neville spoke with the Channel Guide Magazine about his injury and more. Here are the highlights.

On his injury status:

“It’s going to be about three months. I broke my ankle in two places, but fortunately it was a clean break. The bone remained in position. So there is no requirement for surgery…Obviously, it’s very difficult. I think it would be worse staying at home and being miserable by myself. I would have hated to have missed out because WrestleMania is not only about the event. It’s about the week surrounding the event. It’s about Axxess. It’s about fan interaction. It’s about giving back to the WWE Universe that gives to us 365 days a year. So I felt that was important and a responsibility. It’s not only a responsibility, but something I genuinely enjoy doing.”

On not changing his style once he returns:

“I think it will take more than a broken ankle to change me. I’m an adrenaline junkie, and that is always going to be my style. I broke my ankle doing a baseball slide, which is a relatively simple maneuver. It’s certainly not high risk. But what the injury did do was open my eyes to how easily an injury can happen. I’ve been fortunate in my career not to have many injuries — especially ones that have kept me out for long periods. So this was certainly an eye opener how easily this could happen and how careful I must be.”

I had actually forgotten about him. That’s a sign of how irrelevant he was before he got injured. Nonetheless, I wish him a quick and full recovery.

    • jcice13

come on, it’s one thing to not like someone it’s another to say he’s irrelevant….

      • Lisa

        Well, it’s a fact.

        • jcice13

no it is NOT a fact, it’s an opinion, a poorly based one, but an opinion nonetheless..and you wonder why so many people bust your chops??

          • Lisa

Well, what program was Neville in before he got injured? How often was he winning matches on TV?

          • jcice13

first it’s not his doing the way he’s book but for being there for just under a year? let’s see.he faced Rollins when he was world champ..beat Harper and Sheamus at king of the ring, beat Barrett and fought your boyfriend for the U.S. title until Rusev interfered and fractured his ankle vs jericho I believe??? they put him in a program with Stardust which wasn’t his it appears he has some major wins and was in with major players so that alone makes your statement of irrelevancy wrong

          • Lisa

Lol. Your comment has no substance.

          • jcice13

to someone who has little to no level of comprehension like yourself? then yes but to someone with a working knowledge of the language then you can’t be more wrong..but don’t fret I am sure you’ll say something real soon that will show how much lower you can go, I have confidence in you

          • Lisa

            Enjoy your afternoon.

I still maintain he’d have the IC Title right now if not for this injury. And RAW/SD viewers would have probably gotten a Zayn/Neville match at some point, which would have been a treat.
I kind of hope they do away with the cartoonishness of his character when he comes back. He deserved much better than the opening run he got, and he’s got pretty good all-around skill that isn’t just limited to high flying.
