News And Notes On WWE’s First-Quarter 2016 Earnings

WWE released their first-quarter 2016 earnings on Tuesday. Here is the live event revenue and plans for the WWE Network:

– There were 78 total events (excluding NXT) in the current quarter, including 72 events in North America and 6 events in international markets. This is up from the 2015 first-quarter which had 76 events.

– North American live event revenues decreased to $22.8 million from $38.3 million in the prior year quarter.

– International live event revenue increased $1.5 million to $2.5 million in the first-quarter.

– Revenue for the WWE Network has increased 7% to $40.3 million. This is up by 39% compared to the first-quarter of 2015.

– The Company continues to work on launch plans for China. In the first-quarter, the WWE Network launched in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines.

– Out of the 1.398,000 subscribers for the WWE Network, 1,289,000 of those are paid subscribers, while 109,000 are free.

– WWE expects to add more than 300 hours of original content and over 1,500 hours of archive content to the WWE Network in 2016. The WWE Network will have nearly 6,000 hours of content by the end of 2016.
