Roman Reigns Tops PWI’s 500 List, Official Statement

WWE Championship
Fans won’t be happy, but Pro Wrestling Illustrated named Roman Reigns as the number one choice for their 26th annual PWI 500 list. They use the time frame between July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016 to make their selections.

“It’s a great honor and it goes with a lot of hard work,” said Reigns. “It’s very flattering. It just shows that if you keep your head down and stick to your day-to-day, you grind it out and take the long road, good things happen. It’s a great achievement and another great accolade.”

Reigns won the WWE Championship at Survivor Series against Dean Ambrose in the finals of a tournament. He lost the belt minutes later to Sheamus, who cashed in Money in the Bank. About a month later, Reigns recaptured the title on RAW. He lost the gold again as it was on the line in the Royal Rumble. He avenged that Royal Rumble defeat to Triple H by pinning him in the main event of WrestleMania. Reigns lost the title at Money in the Bank and was suspended by WWE days later for violating the Wellness Policy.

Since returning from suspension, Reigns’ massive push as clearly slowed down.
