SummerSlam 2016 Results: Demon Is New Universal Champion

WWE
It’s time for us to see just who becomes the first ever WWE Universal Champion. Things get kicked off with the new belt being shown off-though, really, it’s just a copy of the Heavyweight title, done up in red wherever possible.

After the opening bell, Balor instantly went on the attack, nailing a drop kick and then quickly going for a Coup de Grace, though Rollins got out of the way. Finn kept the pressure on Rollins early on.

It didn’t take long for Rollins to turn the tide, and then each man began wearing the other out as the match progressed.

After escaping some of Rollins’ signature offense, and missing some of his own, Balor finally strung some of his finishing offense together, drilling corner dropkicks on Rollins until finally, he was able to nail the Coup de Grace and, in his first match on a WWE PPV, become the first ever WWE Universal Champion.
