WWE SmackDown (6/23) Results: Seth Rollins Vs. Sami Zayn, Wyatt Family Message

Welcome to WrestleNewz’s results from the latest SmackDown. This is the first SmackDown since Sunday’s Money in the Bank (MITB).

We start with Seth Rollins and he’s not happy about how Money in the Bank played out. He claims the title was stolen and confirms the Battleground triple threat. He wants to make an example of someone and offers an open challenge, which is accepted by Sami Zayn. Rollins cuts Sami off before he gets one word out. Rollins calls Sami the perfect person. WWE Champion Dean Ambrose laughs at them and has the Ambrose Asylum built. Rollins wants the crew to stop and leaves when they keep working. End of segment.

Cesaro vs. Alberto Del Rio

Cesaro with lots of power moves. Del Rio goes after the injured shoulder as a commercial hits. We return and Del Rio gets the cross armbreaker across the ropes. He must break the hold but the submission did damage. Cesaro with an uppercut and double foot stomp. Del Rio catches Cesaro with a kick to the face and goes for his own foot stomp. It misses and Cesaro hits the neutralizer for the win.

Winner: Cesaro

Sheamus vs. Apollo Crews

Sheamus goes after Crews with some aggression. An enziguro and standing moonsault from Crews change the pace. Sheamus gets Crews down with a boot to the face and he tries unhinging one of the ringside chairs. He turns into a dropkick from Crews. Sheamus kicked Crews into the ringside step and takes the count out victory.

Winner: Sheamus via count out

The Club is mocking The Usos in the back. Styles says The Club won’t get involved when he faces Jimmy Uso. The Usos don’t seem to buy Styles’ promise.

AJ Styles vs. Jimmy Uso

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson are out for The Club. Jey Uso is there for his brother. Styles stops Jimmy before slamming his head into the ring apron while trying to get a count out win. Jimmy fights back after an extended beat down, and looks like he’s trying to tag his brother, but it’s a singles match. Jimmy gets a pop-up Samoan drop. The Club attack Jey Uso, and Jimmy flies over the ropes to save his twin brother. Styles leap over the top rope onto both Usos. A phenomenal forearm is enough for Styles to beat Jimmy.

Winner: AJ Styles

New Day vs. Vaudevillains

Xavier Wood is ringside. Some moderate success from The Vaudevillains as they isolate Kofi Kingston. The hot tag is made to Big E and he cleans the ring of The Vaudevillains. Simon Gotch absorbs several belly to belly suplexes. New Day hit midnight hour for a three count.

Winners: New Day

Bray Wyatt is on the big screen. He’s going to turn their positivity into a mistake. New Day aren’t playing games and look a bit scared.

More with Darren Young and  Bob Backlund. The WWE Hall of Famer is looking over Young’s goals. Young wants to win in the main event of WrestleMania. Backlund wants this to be known as the Darren Young Era.

Sami Zayn discusses his lengthy feud with Kevin Owens. He needs to end this for his career to move ahead.

Charlotte and Dana Brooke are interviewed by Renee Young. She mentions Sasha Banks returning and Charlotte will make her bow down to the champ.

Becky Lynch vs. Dana Brooke

Charlotte is with Dana Brooke. Becky with some punches and kicks, followed by an inverted DDT. Charlotte with a distraction and Becky is pinned in under 90 seconds.

Winner: Dana Brooke

Dana attacks after the match and Becky fights back. Charlotte lands a boot to the jaw. Sasha Bank saves Becky and locks the banks statement on Dana.

Seth Rollins vs. Sami Zayn

Dean Ambrose will be joining the announce team for the main event. Sami with a running head scissors and follows with chops. Rollins isn’t backing down; sending Sami into the corner and coming in with forearms. Sami catches Rollins with a lariat and sends the former champion to the outside via a clothesline. They head back inside the squared circle and Sami with a powerbomb and he tries for the helluva kick. Rollins catches him with a dropkick. Sami counters with a tornado DDT. He looks for the helluva kick again and Rollins ducks out of the ring. Rollins still gets caught with a splash to the outside from Sami. As they head back in the ring, Rollins sneaks in the pedigree and it’s over. As expected, great showing.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Ambrose almost catches Rollins in dirty deeds. Rollins nearly escapes and the former Shield brothers have a stare down.

The TV screen fades to black as the episode ends. See you next week.
