About The Rock’s movie being the single most pirated of 2011. Does that have any bearing on online piracy actually causing economic harm? No, because I read the box office draw for that movie was humongous, and was the most financially successful “Fast” movie. I read an article, some theories as well, that basically say downloading copyrighted files and whatnot is not economically damaging. The numbers are exaggerated to gain public and political support against piracy.

Seeing as how SOPA and PIPA, from what I read were basically acts of censoring the internet, and just throwing a giant blanket over the piracy issue, it makes me agree with another theory. That it’s all about controlling the free internet. Besides, the movie industry can still have major box office success, and the music industry (yeah album sales decreased) still can bank on merchandise and concert sales. Furthermore, smaller bands benefit from file sharing, because it gets their name out there, and they can actually draw a dime in merchandise and concert sales.

I apologize for going off topic, I just felt compelled to basically defend what I do, which is trying to be passed off as illegal.
