Live from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona, Bray Wyatt was crowned the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion when he was the last man standing during the 2017 Elimination Chamber pay-per-view (PPV). He and AJ Styles were the final two competitors left in the Chamber match. Wyatt laid his Sister Abigail finisher on Styles to gain the pin and the win. In other Chamber news, Naomi snagged the title from Alexa Bliss, becoming SD LIVE’s new Women’s Champion. The American Alpha also retained their SmackDown LIVE Tag Team Championships by defeating The Ascension during the Tag Team Turmoil tournament.

Mojo Rawley defeated Curt Hawkins – Pre-Show Kickoff

The match was even-toned, with no one superstar dominating. In fact, both superstars both tried to gain a pin at some point in the match, only to get a kick out at two. However, when all was said and done, Rawley laid Hawkins with a devastating right hook and was able to pick up the three count and the win.

Becky Lynch defeated Mickie James

The perfect match to open the PPV. While James did dominate the majority of the match, Lynch did come back with some fury mid-way through. A drop kick off the top rope from Lynch to James didn’t garner a win for Becky; while a Mick Kick from James to the Lass Kicker didn’t grab a three-count for Mickie. In the end, Becks gained a win from a simple roll up pin, when James revered out of Lynch’s Dis-Arm-Her submission. James may have escaped the tap out, but she wasn’t able to pull out the win.

Apollo Crews and Kalisto defeated Dolph Ziggler – 2-on-1 Handicap Match

With Dolph Ziggler attacking Kalisto as he entered the ring, the 2-on-1 handicap match turned quickly into a one-on-one; with Kalisto being carted off by WWE officials to the backstage area. Crews jumped on the offense, attacking Ziggler, but this dominance didn’t last very long. Ziggler came back and with fury, and before long, Kalisto headed back into the ring to make this bout a 2-on-1 handicap match again. Moments after Kalisto returned, Crews made the tag in and Apollo was able to pin Ziggler for the team win. During the post-match celebration, Ziggler came back into the ring and attacked both Crews and Kalisto. He hit Crews with a steel chair and began an attack on his left leg, seemingly causing a storyline-related injury for Apollo.

American Alpha (Chad Gable and Jason Jordan) defeated The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor), The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso), Rhyno and Heath Slater, The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch), and Breezango (Fandango and Tyler Breeze) to retain their SD LIVE Tag Team Championships – Tag Team Turmoil Match

Rhyno/Heath Slater and Breezango (Fandango and Tyler Breeze) started off the Tag Team Turmoil match. After some action and a Gore from Rhyno on Fandango, Breezango was eliminated and The Vaudevillians came out. Slater was able to pin Gotch (in good time) and the Vaudevillians were eliminated … only for The Usos to come down to the ring. Still, after some sneaky work from The Usos, Slater was pinned and gone was Beauty and The Man Beast; only for Tag Team Champions American Alpha to come out. The match between The Usos and AA was a hard-fought bout, but Chad Gable was able to pin an Usos to eliminate them. The Usos didn’t take the loss quite well and began an incredible assault on both Jordan and Gable. Both were lying (inside and outside) the ring as the Ascension made their way down for the match. While it seemed that The Ascension had this match in the bag, Gable and Jordan came back to win the bout and retain their SmackDown LIVE Tag Team Championships.

Nikki Bella versus Natalya –  Double Count Out

Natalya started off the match with a bang, ripping a Cena sign off a fan and throwing it into the crowd on her way down to the match; as well as mocking his ‘you can’t see me’ line in front Nikki before attacking her in the ring. Nattie would continue her attack and at one point taunt Bella’s mom, who was sitting ringside to show support to her daughter. Natti was able to place Nikki in her Sharpshooter move, where Bella was able to reverse it into a Fearless Lock, but the submission was broken. Both women spilled outside the ring, where the action continued. In the end, the match ended due to a double count. The women continued to fight heading on the ramp, where Natalya was able to break free and escape backstage.

Randy Orton defeated Luke Harper

Orton came out without Bray, as Wyatt prepared for his WWE Championship match later, but the action started off quickly and spilled outside the ring from the get-go. Luke started off strong, but Orton quickly began to dominate, wearing Harper down. Harper did eventually come back though, and while the two were outside the ring, he threw Orton against the announcers’ table. Orton would turn things around and slam his infamous DDT, but Harper would counter with not one, but two, Superkicks. While Harper brought it, he didn’t have enough of it; because one RKO Outta Nowhere and Harper was out for the three count.

Naomi defeated Alexa Bliss to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion

Both ladies fought one heck of match, with each one showcasing their respective talents. Bliss worked her heel character well with cheap shots and hair pulling; while Naomi continued to show off her athleticism with high kicks and aerial moves. After moves and counter moves between the two, in the end, Naomi was able to pin Bliss for the three count after a Split-Legged Moonsault to become the new SD LIVE Women’s Champion.

Bray Wyatt defeated John Cena, Dean Ambrose, Baron Corbin, and The Miz to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion – Elimination Chamber Match

John Cena and AJ Styles started off the match amongst a wound up and electric Phoenix crowd. The two fought a hard match and then the Lunatic Fringe entered the equation. Ambrose came in with a flash, with at one point launching himself off his own chamber pod to hit John Cena head on. Cena would retaliate with a double German Suplex on both Ambrose and Styles (at the same time). Moments later, Bray Wyatt would be the next competitor to be released from his pod. At one point, Cena and Styles would climb up the side of the Elimination Chamber and have a punching match; only to send Cena to the floor. Styles would then battle Ambrose on the top of a pod, only to send Ambrose flying to the floor (thanks to Wyatt grabbing him by the leg). Next to enter the match: Baron Corbin … only to start battling Dean Ambrose. He also not only was able to counter Cena’s STF submission, but he was also able to lay his End of Days move on the Cenation leader. Just as The Miz entered as the last competitor, Ambrose was able to surprise the Lone Wolf with a pin to eliminate him; the first superstar to be eliminated. Corbin was not too happy about the whole thing and began an assault on Ambrose, even throwing Ambrose through a pod. Ever the opportunist, when officials threw Corbin out of the chamber, The Miz quickly ran to Ambrose to pin him: Dean was the second superstar eliminated. But as quickly as The Miz was celebrating, he was pinned by Cena shortly after, making him the third superstar eliminated. Then, there was three: Cena, Wyatt, and Styles. But, it wasn’t long before there was only two and Wyatt pinned Cena after he laid Sister Abigail on the 16-time champ. When all was said and done, Styles and Wyatt fought a great final elimination round, but in the end The Eater of Words laid a Sister Abigail on Styles to pin AJ, win the match and win his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
