April just started and WrestleMania 33 is finally upon us.
13 matches have been booked for the show and we here at Wrestlenewz felt the urge to predict the card, like every other wrestling fan. We gave it our best attempt and here’s what the staff came up with.
Don’t forget to add your own predictions in our comments section. Let’s see if anyone correctly predicts all 8 matches.
WrestleMania 33 play by play coverage is being handled by WrestleNewz and the pre-show begins at around 5 PM EST with the main card at 7 PM EST. We’ll also have the fallout, so stay tuned.
Universal Championship: Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar
Dorathy: Lesnar. He’s taken too many falls at the hands of Goldberg to not gain some revenge. Sunday is Brock’s night.
John: I want there to be a neither. This match is the exact reason I wish there was a Money In The Bank briefcase in play. So, that being said, I am going with Brock.
Joe: Brock Lesnar. It’s been some tale between Goldberg and Lesnar, which will conclude again at WrestleMania. After all of these jobs handed to Goldberg, it’s time he does the same.
WWE Championship: Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton
Dorathy: Wyatt. The era of Wyatt is far from over, and I predict interference from both Luke Harper and Erik Rowan. The original Wyatt Family will reunite come Wrestlemania 33.
John: I’m going with Orton here. Call me crazy, but as much as Wyatt should or could hold onto it, I could see Orton winning this one.
Joe: Bray Wyatt. At some point, Randy Orton might take the title from Bray Wyatt. Now doesn’t seem right as there’s the possibility of a Wyatt Family reunion and this title run needs to be more than a month long.
Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match for RAW Women’s Championship: Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax
Dorathy: Bayley. I expect Bayley to retain and Sasha to turn heel to launch a program between these two ladies, post-WM.
John: Wow, this one is tough. I think it boils down to Bayley or Sasha, and that would be our next program. I’d actually not be upset with a surprise Nia win, but I will take Bayley to retain.
Joe: Bayley. Charlotte’s time with the belt is over and Nia Jax will have to wait a bit longer. Sasha Banks’ actions should be interesting, but Bayley will show how the ultimate underdog never gives up.
Six Pack Challenge for SmackDown Women’s Championship: Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch vs. Natalya vs. Mickie James vs. Carmella vs. Naomi
Dorathy: Naomi. She’s in her hometown and the idea all along was that she enter Orlando as champion. Slight change in plans: she will leave as champion.
John: Naomi. If she fails to re-gain it on Sunday, I think that would be the biggest shock to us all.
Joe: Naomi. WWE panicked when Naomi got injured and took the belt off her. I think she gets it back rather quick since the injury wasn’t too bad and it felt like WWE wanted Naomi to leave Florida with gold.
United Stats Championship: Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens
Dorathy: Owens. Reports indicate that Jericho will be off WWE programming after Mania, so it only makes sense that Owens wins here. I do believe he will win with help from Samoa Joe.
John: As much as things seem to point to an Owens win, I want to see Y2J retain. He could lose it on Monday night, since we all know stuff will go down there, but I’d love to see the veteran get a win in Orlando.
Joe: Kevin Owens. Chris Jericho’s going to be taking a break at any moment. A win over Jericho gives Owens another belt and keeps their angle going for when Y2J returns.
Intercontinental Championship: Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin
Dorathy: Corbin. I believe Corbin will prevail and experience his first taste of WWE main roster gold.
John: I’ve heard that WWE isn’t happy with how Dean’s current reign, though it could all just be speculation. However, what isn’t speculation is how strong and hot Corbin has been. It’s his time. Corbin wins.
Joe: Baron Corbin. WWE looks to have a possible star in Baron Corbin. To keep his momentum going from last year’s WrestleMania, adding the IC title would help quite nicely.
Ladder Match for RAW Tag Team Championships: Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Cesaro & Sheamus
Dorathy: Enzo and Cass. This is there time to shine. The duo are well over with the fans and I see tag team gold in their Wrestlemania 33 future.
John: No matter who wins, I think the titles are changing hands. I think Enzo and Cass have a good shot, but could WWE throw us a major curve and have it become a fatal fourway with the addition of the Hardys? Probably not. So I am prepared for an Enzo and Cass win.
Joe: Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson. Before the ladder match stipulation was added, I didn’t know who to predict. With a possible Hardy Boys return in the works, the heels keep the titles.
Non-Sanctioned Match: Triple H vs. Seth Rollins
Dorathy: Rollins. This match is all about redemption. Besides, HHH doesn’t have a good win score when it comes to Wrestlemanias and he will undoubtedly help to elevate a face Rollins.
John: Seth Rollins, if only because it makes absolutely no sense for Hunter to win. Rollins gets the win, perhaps with some Foley interference as a final screw job.
Joe: Triple H. Look for Triple H to show why he’s known as the cerebral assassin. Give Triple H one chance to work on the leg and the trainers will mercifully have to stop this beating.
Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns
Dorathy: Reigns. Undoubtedly this is a ‘passing of the torch’ match. Taker was once Vince’s golden boy … time to pass the baton to Reigns.
John: I know Roman should win, but Undertaker is still my pick. I am probably way wrong. But this match should have never been booked.
Joe: Roman Reigns. It’s time for Undertaker to retire. If WWE wants people to remember Reigns, pining Undertaker at WrestleMania will do the job.
John Cena and Nikki Bella vs. The Miz and Maryse
Dorathy: Cena and Bella. They have been raked over the coals by Miz and Maryse and it doesn’t seem right for these faces to lose this match. Bigger question? Will he propose? My prediction on that is no.
John: Cena and Bella. Just because. At some point, Cena will be getting his time off….but he can and should be victorious.
Joe: John Cena & Nikki Bella. Nothing against The Miz & Maryse, but they’re no Cena or Nikki. Look for WWE’s power couple to win as Cena gets revenge on The Miz for that loss years ago.
Shane McMahon vs. AJ Styles
Dorathy: Styles. McMahon doesn’t gain anything with a win, AJ on the other hand could use a Wrestlemania win and big moment at the event.
John: Shane becomes super-jobber to the stars yet again. So the bigger question? Without a demonic structure to jump off of, how big will Shane’s big spot be?
Joe: AJ Styles. There’s no point in Shane winning. Hopefully they have an entertaining match and Styles wins with some crazy spot for that WrestleMania moment.
André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
Dorathy: Braun Strowman. Why this answer? Well, I read spoilers of course! In all honesty, it does makes sense for him to win this match, although secretly I’d love Dolph Ziggler to win.
John: Strowman makes the most sense. Ziggler might steal it, because he’s been kind of harsh about things…but Strowman is the new monster, and this is his moment.
Joe: Braun Strowman. If Strowman can eliminate most of the entrants in record time, it’ll help build his character. The final four should be Big Show, Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Sami Zayn (who makes the final two).
Cruiserweight Championship: Neville vs. Austin Aries
Dorathy: Neville. Simply because I don’t see this program being even close to over, post-Mania.
John: Give me A Double here. I love Neville’s current run, and I think giving him a legit challenger would help elevate things a bit more.
Joe: Neville. Make Austin Aries chase the title for at least another month. Aries will be champion, but it needs some time and shouldn’t happen on the pre-show of any pay per view.
