Backlash is this Sunday and the WWE looks to have most, if not all, of the card booked. This is the time when we use our own knowledge of wrestling to predict some outcomes. Here are 5 things that should happen by the time Backlash concludes.
WrestleNewz will have
Backlash play by play coverage this Sunday at 8 pm EST. When Sami Zayn lost the No. 1 contender match several weeks back on SmackDown, WWE cameras caught up with an emotional and angry mess after the TV stopped rolling. Have Sami give everything to Baron Corbin, only to make one mistake and leading to end of days. As Corbin leaves, have Sami start throwing a temper tantrum by going off on fans and maybe breaking a few TV monitors. Fans believe Dolph Ziggler has deserved to be in the main event for the past five years. Ziggler vs. Shinsuke Nakamura has nothing to do with the former World Heavyweight Champion. The sole purpose of pairing Ziggler with Nakamura is because they’re almost guaranteed to have a great performance. If Ziggler pleases WWE officials, he might get to stick in the main event scene. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan will wrestle and I don’t think it matters who leaves the victor. After the bell, have Rowan give something to Harper from the brown sack he’s been carrying to trigger something in his memory. The two will then reunite after a stiff contest and put the tag team division on notice. If two wrestlers are willing to beat the crap out of each other and then instantly become friends again, that’s a dangerous duo. Rusev has been threating SmackDown’s bosses that he won’t wrestle until given a WWE Championship shot. He seems to have calmed down on those talks, but once Rusev debuts on the blue brand it will be as a heel trying to stop those in power. Have Rusev ruin one of the matches. The pre-show with Tye Dillinger and Aiden English has no real storyline, so it’s the right place for Rusev to destroy both wrestlers. Then, Tye has a program with Rusev instead of sitting on pre-shows. There’s been lots of hype around Lana with repeated vignettes. It’s almost like they’re trying to give her the Emmalina gimmick that failed, but who knows. We’re not even sure if Lana is a heel or face. I say she gets involved in the six-woman tag team match. Since Lana is over with fans and she’s only been a heel, maybe she helps the faces for a change of flavor.
