With Fastlane here, there’s not much more the WWE can do to sell the event. Before the show begins, we take one final look at everything and leave you with a few random thoughts.
John Cena Vs. Undertaker Real?: Nine years ago, there was talk of John Cena taking on Undertaker at WrestleMania. Due to injuries and booking changes that never happened. There has been lots of discussion among people regarding Cena’s WrestleMania 34 opponent. Many believed it was the Undertaker. Then, some speculated Rey Mysterio was the front-runner. As of now, anyone seems like a possibility. If it is Undertaker, the storyline has to begin tonight. Undertaker does not even need to appear. Have the lights go out and the gong sound to distract Cena; that is all fans need to know on what the future holds for Cena’s WrestleMania role.
Weak Card: Fastlane seemed like a dud and it could have to do with the placement of the card. We had an amazing Royal Rumble where lots of memorable moments occurred. RAW then presented two Elimination Chamber matches, where history was made both times. Now SmackDown is up and it feels like there is little attention on what is about to happen. With top WrestleMania 34 matches being confirmed, people are looking ahead about four weeks to the grandest show of the year. If there was some type of gimmick, like the Elimination Chamber, then I could see there being more appeal. This feels like a stepping stone to WrestleMania.
Three Matches Standout: As of now the Six Pack Challenge, New Day vs. The Usos and Randy Orton vs. Bobby Roode have the potential to steal the show. Those are the top three matches, but WWE might spoil that by tossing Jinder Mahal into the United States Championship match. I do not mind Jinder, but Orton vs. Roode sounds more interesting. The tag team match may steal the show, so WWE needs to careful where they place that bout. The main event is full of talented superstars and it would be shocking if that somehow failed. Even if someone is having an off night, they can rely on the other five superstars.
Asuka Should Appear: It has been over a month since Asuka won the first ever female Royal Rumble Match and we have not heard who she will face. On TV, it seemed like WWE was teasing the idea of Alexa Bliss; but many speculated that Asuka vs. Charlotte is the plan. Charlotte should have no problem retaining the title over Ruby Riott. Asuka could just confront Charlotte after the match or save Charlotte from a post-match beating thanks to the Riott Squad. Asuka and Charlotte clear the ring and the camera pans back with the WrestleMania 34 logo handing.
