And now comes that time of the day when we ponder the collective cognitive abilities of internet users. Some of the fallout for Dr. Chris Amann from the CM Punk defamation suit was that a relationship he’d had with former WWE Diva Jillian Hall came to light. News of the relationship came into the public awareness recently because prior to the trial beginning Amann’s attorneys had filed motions to prevent the relationship from being brought up. Now while the trial itself made no mention of it, other go-getters did some digging into the computer terminals at the Cook County Court clerk’s office and found that particular motion was publicly available. So Amann, to say nothing of his perceived negligence as a physician, also now found himself facing grave ethical concerns as well for dating a patient. As expected, the collective of angry internet users went after Amann over this. But it seems they have also gone after Jillian Hall as well and have been trying to castigate her for being some kind of harlot. ‘Slut shaming’ is the term Hall used in her recent Instagram post, where she explains, quite rightly, that it isn’t wrong or immoral for someone to be in a relationship. Just because people might have a bone to pick with Amann for his lack of ethics doesn’t mean Hall has even a modicum of responsibility for any of that. So the collective cognitive abilities of internet users proves to be a sweeping disappointment once again.

Here is what Hall wrote in her post about the matter:

I’m going to get really serious for a minute.. as much as I hate using the word “slut” in any capacity, this post is very necessary right now! The past several days I’ve received messages, emails and read some comments that have completely slut shamed me due to information coming out about a prior relationship I was in. Maybe read that last line again! It contains the word “relationship”. To those of you that have decided this makes me a bad person, a girl that was trying to get ahead in my life and career, someone that uses people or just a plain “slut”, you are the problem with this world! Not really wanting to bring up specifics, but am I really the bad guy here?? I did absolutely nothing wrong myself. If the other party involved did in your eyes or the law’s eyes (and that’s a hypothetical), why am I the one that is being pretty much bullied by some of you? Do you not see what your words can do to people? This is me being real, some of your accusations towards me have given me elevated anxiety, made me feel depressed and really hurt my feelings. Stop the slut shaming! Think about it, and if you have harsh words or opinions about the situation that you weren’t even involved in, direct them where they deserve to be directed… it’s not towards me!
