– The Usos have being keeping things interesting lately, as their names popped up in recent weeks as those who could sign with All Elite Wrestling in a matter of months. Then Jimmy Uso and his wife Naomi made headlines a few days ago as it was published that the former Tag Team Champion was arrested after getting into a confrontation with Detroit police after their car was pulled over.
For some reason, Fox News covered the story and made the bold statement that Jimmy and Naomi are trying to get out of their WWE contracts. The Fox report stated,
“Uso and his wife want to get fired by the WWE, so this arrest just might be the shoe that drops. According to the source, a new wrestling entity called All Elite Wrestling has drawn much interest from a number of wrestlers currently under contract with the WWE.”
While it is strange that Fox News would cover the story, SmackDown will be joining the Fox family later this fall as they are leaving the USA Network.
WWE gave a generic statement about Jimmy’s arrest, which was his second in about 12 months following a DUI in Texas. Naomi, who was driving the car, was not arrested and responded to a fan on Twitter that she is okay.
There has been no word if The Usos will be removed from Sunday’s Elimination Chamber match against SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Miz & Shane McMahon.
– One of the best matchers at the Royal Rumble was Asuka making Becky Lynch tap to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Since then, Asuka has not appeared on SmackDown and is not booked for the Elimination Chamber.
Dave Meltzer noted during the Wrestling Observer Radio how WWE currently has no plans for Asuka’s WrestleMania opponent. While the SmackDown Women’s Championship is not getting much attention, all eyes are on Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky as they are penciled in to close WrestleMania 35.
