– WWE might have hit a snag in the Mae Young Classic. Please be aware, the rest of this post contains spoilers about the tournament and NXT UK.
At last weekend’s NXT UK tapings, Toni Storm suffered an injury. This could be an issue as WWE already taped the Mae Young Classic with Storm advancing to the finals.
This weekend, Storm was supposed to work in Germany but has been pulled from the Indy show due to injury. The back related injury occurred during the final of another tournament to crown the inaugural NXT UK Women’s Champion. The finish to her match with Rhea Ripley was described as rushed and afterwards the referee tossed the ‘X’ sign as medical attended to Storm.
WWE has not commented on Storm’s status. The company might wait a few more weeks before they make a decision as the Mae Young Classic finals are set for the Evolution pay per view on October 28.
– With Matt Hardy taking time off due to injuries and WWE starting to groom him as a potential producer, that leaves Bray Wyatt floating in the back. The Twitter account @WrestleVotes stated that Wyatt’s character may get a slight change.
The idea would be for Wyatt to return as a face and get a renewed push. Wyatt’s biggest moment in the company came when he won the WWE Championship inside the Elimination Chamber. The reign was short lived as Randy Orton captured the belt in a less than thrilling affair a month later at WrestleMania 33. The two feuded for several more months until they went their separate ways.
When Hardy turned “Woken,” he worked a program with Wyatt. It saw Wyatt take a short hiatus and return at WrestleMania 34 to help Hardy win the Andre The Giant Battle Royal on the pre-show. They later won the RAW Tag Team Titles before dropping them to The B-Team.
