Ronda Rousey made a very successful transition from MMA to pro wrestling and one WWE Hall of Famer wants to see another deal done. Mick Foley told TMZ Sports he pitched the idea of Vince McMahon signing UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg.
“I had a meeting with Mr. McMahon and I specifically told him keep your eyes on this Cyborg vs. [Amanda] Nunes fight,” said Foley. “She’s gonna be larger than life and would make a great WWE superstar down the line.”
Cyborg is 20-1 with one no-contest after being flagged for steroids. She has five UFC wins and is the only Featherweight Champion in the women’s division history. Cyborg is rumored to next fight Amanda Nunes; as her UFC contract draws to a close.
For years, there was debate if Rousey or Cyborg was the greatest female MMA fighter. They never fought, citing weight difference and Cyborg’s failed drug test.
If McMahon was looking to steal a major name from the UFC for the right price, Cyborg would be that fighter. Rousey vs. Cyborg would be the match fans always wanted in the UFC, but WWE were the ones that finally made it happen.
