After several years in the making, Roman Reigns finally became Universal Champion at SummerSlam by defeating Brock Lesnar. Sports Illustrated‘s Justin Barrasso has some insight on rumors that are circulating about the title reign.

The plan is for Reigns to hold the title for a lengthy period. This would obviously mean he defeats Braun Strowman at Hell in a Cell on September 16. The match takes place inside the Cell and sees Strowman cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. Only twice before, with Rob Van Dam and John Cena, has the contract holder announced in advance of their cash in.

After moving past the Strowman program, Drew McIntyre is set for major push and title shot. McIntyre returned to the WWE a few years back and worked in NXT, where he became their World Champion. Since rejoining the main roster, he has been paired with Dolph Ziggler and they have been considered a success by WWE officials and fans.

With Lesnar focused on the UFC, there is no word on a return to WWE. But, WWE would love to have Lesnar back.
