Bruce Pritchard opened up about his experience working with a supposedly defiant AJ Styles back in his TNA days. Pritchard says that he’d heard from TNA brass that Styles wasn’t receptive to new ideas and kept rejecting things they wanted to try. For example, they wanted Styles to act like Ric Flair and Styles didn’t want to do that. Pritchard says despite the talk, he tried to judge Styles for himself and found Styles was actually very receptive. Styles obviously made some convincing arguments as to why he had rejected certain ideas and Pritchard found him to be more open to ideas if they were better ideas.

Here’s the full clip:

Styles debuted with WWE in 2016 and became a top guy right from the get go. He didn’t work his way up through NXT and didn’t spend much time working his way up through the main roster either. He’s a guy who has seemingly always been aware of his worth and knew how to negotiate for himself the circumstances germane to his success.
