– Andrade “Cien Almas has impressed the right person in Vince McMahon. According to Fightful, McMahon has been thrilled with Almas since he joined SmackDown a few months ago.
After working with WWE Champion AJ Styles, the decision was made for Almas to work a short program with Daniel Bryan. The matches produced showed McMahon that he has a major star signed.
The initial belief is that McMahon didn’t see much in Almas, but it’s moments like that which decide the direction of a push. If Almas stays on the boss’ good side, he could be in line for a major push.
In NXT, Almas found success early before going on a losing streak. He was partnered Zelina Vega, which saw him score several wins before capturing the NXT Championship. After dropping the title, he quickly was sent to SmackDown. There were plans for Almas to feud with Jeff Hardy over the United States Championship, but booking changed. Instead, Almas started slow by getting the better of Sin Cara.
WWE is always looking for a star of Spanish descent to promote. They had something going with Rey Mysterio, but he’s well past his prime and very prone to injuries. The promotion tried Alberto Del Rio, but there were several issues backstage that saw him leave twice. Now, it looks like WWE is on to something with Almas.
If I was WWE, they should keep Vega as his manager. Those two meshed well from the start.
