Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the word is WWE is paying Mauro Ranallo not to speak publicly about his situation with JBL. This is so far just a rumor and nothing has been officially confirmed. However, considering the disgraceful optics of having a bully’s face representing your company on TV, this would not be surprising. WWE is known for its revisionist philosophy after all.
Judging from the online outcry though, fans will not soon forget what happened. JBL has become public enemy #1. Mauro is still technically under contract until August 12th of this year and his contract does not permit him to give unauthorized interviews about WWE. It would be reasonable to expect a full exposé on this matter some time after the contract is up this summer.
Paige posted a video to Twitter wherein, at about the 5:18 mark, Alberto Del Rio goes on a rant about WWE.
Del Rio starts by praising Impact Wrestling for being a great company and for their inclusive attitude towards talent. He then references WWE by saying they need to preach by example. According to Del Rio, if they want to run anti-bullying campaigns, they need to stop bullying people. If they want to run anti-hate campaigns, they need to stop judging people by the color of their skin.
